A Study on Aromatherapy Awareness and Aromatherapy Types by Life Style

The quality of life was also improved together with the stress on a rapidly changing society, as many things has been changed by living in a rapidly changing society like the present. Due to this situation, an aroma therapy, which is a natural healing therapy, is spreading gradually.
In the research, it was classified life types of the women and it was studied what kinds of effect was occurred by the cognition and use type on aroma therapy according to the life style.
In order to proceed research, it was performed a self-recording type of survey for women who was 20-years-old or higher in the region of Gyeongnam. First, the frequency analysis was performed to comprehend the general features of the respondents, and the analysis of factor and reliability was performed to recognize the feasibility and reliability. Next, in order to make the group by an each life style, the cluster analysis was performed with the group that was selected from the analysis of factor, and ANOVA and post-validation was performed to confirm whether the analysis of cluster was appropriate.
The results of research are as follow;
First, as a result of the analysis for the factors of life style, it was resulted as 3 factors such as a trend-pursuit type, a health pursuit-type and a self-faithfulness type, and when it was cluster-analyzed with it, it was resulted as 3 types of a self-directed type, a convenience-pursuit type and a health-oriented type.
Second, the results on a cognition of aroma therapy according to a life style are as follow;
The cognition of a term, an aroma therapy, was presented relatively high for all 3 groups, and in the path to access it, it was presented was presented as the highest in skin-care shop for a self-directed type, and a convenience-pursuit type & a health-oriented type was presented as the highest in mass-media. And, all 3 groups answered that the management using aroma oil and the aroma product were helpful for the health of skin, and the answer that the aroma product was helpful for a psychological stability was presented as the highest. In particularly, in a health-oriented type, as the answer that it was not helpful for health was 0.0%, it was able to realize that the reliability of the aroma product was the highest. Also, it was presented that all 3 groups' understanding on the extracted portion of aroma oil was comparatively high.
Third, the results on use type of aroma therapy according the a life style are as follows;

In the period of an aroma use, the long-term use over 5 years was presented highly for a self-directed type and a health-oriented type, the short-term use under 1 month to 6 month was presented comparatively high for a convenience-pursuit type. The management type of an aroma showed various answers such as oil, cosmetics and air-freshing product, but it showed comparatively a lower answer for a water therapy and inhalation therapy. The answer that there was an experience to make an aroma by herself was presented the highest for a health-oriented type, and the next was for a self-directed type, but the answer, 'No', was presented the highest for a convenience-pursuit type. In the question of an aroma related education presence, the answer, 'Yes', was presented the highest for all 3 groups, and the level of satisfaction was also high. Reflecting these, It is necessary to deliver an enough knowledge and application method even with one-time by activating an one-day education program, and if it is possible to establish the expertise to explain an efficacy enough and to specify a quality precisely, it is considered that the market related with an aroma therapy will be vitalized through an effective marketing.
However, the data of research was proceeded only for the specific regions, and there was a limit in the classification according to the age. If it is performed to compare and analyze the cognition and use type of an aroma therapy and the age and to segment as more specific market by classifying the difference according to the regional life style, it will be more helpful to make it use as a basic materials.
