In this paper, we propose a voltage controller design technique for a power converter that is robust to load variations. AC-DC power converters must provide stable electrical energy to the load by controlling capacitor voltage and inductor current. In the conventional power converter, the voltage controller is designed by fixing the parameters of the load without considering the relationship between the load current, input voltage and capacitor current. However, when applied to a system in which the amount of load is not constant and fluctuates, a transient phenomenon of the output voltage occurs every time a load fluctuation occurs. This transient phenomenon appears as a sudden rise or fall of the voltage, which has a problem of adversely affecting the semiconductor switch and the load. In this paper, to solve these problems, we model the single-phase PFC boost converter and the three-phase PWM inverter, respectively. The cause of the transient phenomenon is identified through the current equation of the capacitor of each circuit. We design a feedforward compensator based on analysis through modeling, and propose a voltage controller design technique that can eliminate the cause of transient phenomena. In the case of a single phase PFC boost converter, the load current and input voltage fluctuations cause the transient of the output voltage. In the case of the microgrid inverter, the output voltage fluctuates during the process of switching the output voltage and the load component of the voltage controller while the voltage controller is turned on during the mode switching process. Therefore, a controller is designed so that the feedforward compensator is responsible for the load current. The proposed feedforward controller proved its effectiveness through PSIM simulation and experiments.
