Research on the cold chain logistics distribution mode based on fresh product e-commerce business model in Chinese market.

Due to its fast and increase nature numerous merchants refer to share the cake of fresh produce e-commerce market. The competition is fierce since the most of players seek to get the lion’s share in this industry. However, 95% of the fresh produce e-commerce players are unsuccessful, the multi causes result in this poor performance, we aims to investigate the reason from the cold chain distribution mode and fresh produce distribution perspective. This thesis thoroughly studies the fresh produce distribution and discusses the driving factors of such its’ failure. The ultimate aim of the thesis is to identify the most deterrent factors in logistics distribution lead to the fresh produce e-commerce players’ loss. In order to meet this objective we conduct qualitative research based on systematic process analysis to deeply assess each criterion which attracts as well as the failure of perishable goods distribution. In the process of literature review we identified 17 factors derived from more than 35 selected academic papers. We categorized these factors into four main groups; (1) Business strategy, (2) High costs, (3) Poor quality, and (4) Restrictions. Through the analysis of selected studies we identified that high cost issues (e.g. distribution cost, cost of wastage) followed by business strategy (e.g. last mile delivery) have created more constraint to fresh produce distribution. In order to better analyze the factors, they are summarized and presented as a code sheet.
