With the Advent of the shared-economy, as the form of space use approached the concept of ‘sharing’ from ‘occupation’, resulted in the form of ‘shared office or ‘shared workspace’ or best known as ‘coworking space’. The shared office or coworking space, which shares a collaborative lifestyle, creates a new community by sharing and collaborating not only physically, also personal talent, technology, and time. These workspaces, aimed at bringing together as innovative workspaces that enable spontaneous and liberal multi-directional communication and providing a comfortable environment with an open concept, can be seen as expanding a third place with a new paradigm. The coworking space, created by this backdrop, is widely regarded as an office that performs such functions as creative thinking, mutual interaction and exchange of information, and flexible collaboration in physical space with the characteristics of a third place, and is expanding around the world. The coworking space seeks to overcome the limitations of fixed materiality created by multidisciplinary cities through the information age and to create a close relationship between workers in the office with potential for changes. Amid the growing supply and demand of shared offices in Korea, a major issue is raising questions as to whether the directions and users’ goals of the space match. Thus raises the need for an analysis between an environment pursued by a shared office and an office environment required by users. Based on these backgrounds, this study aims to identify the environment of shared office users’ desire. The goal is to identify relationships with environments of coworking space by analyzing usage characteristics. Franchise-operated types are well-equipped and their private office scale shows that they best reflect the coworking environment which users are seeking. Coworking spaces operated by a private operator was found to be not operating on a large scale but providing relatively high service and amenities. Users using this type of coworking space are judged to have chosen an environment in which services can be delivered at a more affordable cost. In addition, it is deemed necessary to distinguish the opened work area from the space for food and beverage and the lounge which considered as a public space. In the types of non-profit operations, it has been found that the majority of the space are primarily opened office, or called hot desk, and users are judged to consider the economic aspect the most. However, it is deemed necessary to form and arrange desks that can secure individual independent areas by setting up the small tables arrangement or partition on the opened desk. Coworking space has shown with the emergence of a shared economy. Innovation and collaboration are considered as key words. However, it was found that users value service and economic aspects most in a coworking space. With office space emerging as society changes, workers will find a suitable place for their desired work environment and create their own space within it. Therefore, the space must reflect the characteristics of the demand well, in order to be settled as a formal office environment.
