The aim of this research is to develop a Korean version of Bäckstrand Dahlberg Liljenäs Balance Scale(BDL-BS) for the measurement of patients with minor and moderate balance disorders according to the Korean situation, and to verify the validity and reliability. The subjects of this research were 21 patients with mild and moderate balance disorders living in nursing hospitals who were able to walk indoors and don’t have severe cognitive impairment or communication impairment. The BDL-BS was completed through net translation, reverse translation and expert committee verification according to the guidelines set out to maintain content validity. The validity test was verified through content validity and concurrent validity, and the reliability test was verified by test-retest reliability and inter-item consistency. In the content validity test conducted for physical therapy professors and physiotherapists, the CVI for total questions was .91. The concurrent validity, which was verified through the correlation between the total score of the BDL-BS and the total score of the Berg Balance Scale(BBS), an accredited balance measurement tool, was as high as .76. The internal consistency (Cronbach α) was as high as .87, and the test - retest reliability ranged from .70 to 1, indicating high reliability. The validity of the BDL-BS for measuring the balance ability has been verified and confirmed as a highly reliable scale. Therefore, this tool is expected to be a reliable and valid evaluation tool for measuring the balance ability of patients with mild and moderate balance disorders.
