This study investigated the impacts of positive behavior support on distractive behavior and activity participation behavior of young children at developmental delays. The ABAB experimental design was applied with one young child who showed developmental delays. For this purpose, the researcher, class teacher, special education staff and parents cooperated to evaluate functions for problem behavior of the young child at developmental delays, set up a hypothesis and executed a positive behavior support strategy in the steps of baseline 1, intervention 1, baseline 2, intervention 2. Research questions are as follows: First, does positive behavior support decrease distractive behavior of young children at developmental delay? Second, does positive behavior support increase activity participation behavior of young children at developmental delay? As for the experimental period, an experiment was performed for about five months from July to November 2019. The experiment measured the child's distractive behavior and activity participation behavior by the partial interval recording method in the steps of baseline 1, intervention 1, baseline 2 and intervention 2 for 10 minutes in each session. To summarize the research results, the young child showed high levels of distractive behavior throughout the baseline 1 period but the levels tended to be stabilized after the beginning of the intervention. Also, during the baseline period, a low level of activity participation behavior appeared, but there was a stable increase after the intervention. To look into this, specifically, the young child's distractive behavior decreased from 86.8% on average during the baseline 1 period to 11.6% during the intervention 1 period and increased from 32.2 average during the baseline 2 period. After that distractive behavior decreased from 9.5% the average during the intervention 2 period. The young child's activity participation behavior increased from 15% during the baseline 1 period to 42% during the intervention 1 period in the reading activity and decreased from 39% average during the baseline 2 period. After that increased from 46% average during the intervention 2 period. To sum up the above results, it was found that positive behavior support had positive impacts on distractive behavior and activity participation behavior of young children at developmental delays. In the future, systematic and in-depth studies should be conducted with many young children by the multi-dimensional intervention method of positive behavior support based on the meaningful studies of positive behavior support.
