This study aimed to understand the effect of group art therapy using photography on emotional dissonance and job burnout of clinical nurses. The participants in the study were clinical nurses working at hospitals located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-Do and they were consisting of a total 23 with 11 experimental group and 12 control group. The experimental group participated in once or twice a week, 90 minutes session, which made a total of 13 programs excepting pre-test and post-test from July. 2019 to Oct. 2019. As a study tool for this study, quantitative analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon signed rank test in the SPSS 24.0 program for statistical analysis. In order to check the emotional changes of the experimental group, it tried qualitative analysis of each program and qualitative analysis of PITR to recognize the changes in stress. The results of this study are summarized as follows: First, surface activity and suppression among the emotional dissonance parameter of the experimental group were not statistically significant in the pre-scale and post-scale examinations. However, relationship-oriented behavior, restored mind and patience showed statistically significant interactions. The all of control group was not statistically significant. Therefore, group art therapy using photography has positive effect on relationship-oriented behavior, restored mind and patience. Second, emotional exhaustion, cynical mind, and reduced work efficacy during job burnout of the clinical nurses had statistically significant effects on pre-scale and post-scale examinations. It analyzed that group art therapy using photography has a positive effect on job performance. Third, the clinical nurses who was under stress in their duties showed significant results in pre-scale and post-scale examinations of their stress responses, coping resources and coping ability. Through this process, group art therapy using photography has an impact on reducing stress and improving coping resources and coping ability in the job environment. This study conducted group art therapy programs using photographs to clinical nurses. They recognized their inherent negative emotions and vented their pent-up emotions through expressions of their emotion in this programs. It has also helped to think positively through internal resources recognized by looking back and understanding themselves. It was meaningful that reducing stress caused by the emotional dissonance and the job burnout with the positive effects of improvement. Therefore, it look forward to the art therapy programs to will be utilized to reduce emotional coordination and exhaustion of workplace for those who experience emotional labor in the future.
