The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of group sandplay therapy on elementary school children of multicultural families, and to study the effects of school adaptation and self-esteem on multicultural family elementary school children. The children who participated in this study were 8~13 years old and are 40 children. It was divided into 20 experimental groups and 20 control groups for school-age children in U city of Gyeonggi-do, N city and G city of Chungcheongnam-do. Group sand play therapy program was conducted for 90 minutes from November 2018 to August 2019 for 4~8 people in 1st, 2nd and 3rd sessions, once a week. The first group sand play therapy was conducted from November 2018 to March 2019 with 4 children in two groups of 90 minutes each for 10 sessions. The second group sand play therapy was conducted from May 2019 to 2019 7 By month, eight children were given a total of 10 sessions of 90 minutes each. The third group sand play fee was held from June to August 2019 for four people in total for 10 sessions for 90 minutes each. Participants completed all ten sessions of sand play therapy and analyzed pre and post tests. The experimental group and the control group conducted the post-post-test in the post-test to verify the effectiveness using the same preliminary test and the same evaluation tool. Each session was also recorded, videotaped and photographed. The control group did not give sand play therapy while the experimental group treated with the group sand play therapy. Cho Young-ran (2005) used the school adaptation test and the self-esteem test developed by Coopersmith (1981) was revised and revised by Choi Bo-ga and others (1993). One scale was used (Lee Kyung-hoon, 2018). The results were analyzed using SPSS 23.0, a quantitative analysis statistical program. An independent sample t test was performed to verify the identity of the experimental group and the control group and the homogeneity of the pretest before the intervention of the group sand play therapy. In addition, the independent sample t test and the corresponding sample t test were performed to verify the difference between the school adaptation test and the self-esteem scale. We also used the sand play therapy category checklist proposed by Roh Kyung (2017) to objectively assess the process of sandbox change. In the two categories checked, the sessions were divided into the first (three to three), the middle (four to seven), and the late (the eight to ten) sessions to identify how the subjects inferred by the used figure and sand scenes appeared.
The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the effects of group sand play therapy on the promotion of school adaptation of children of multicultural families are as follows. Looking at the sub-factors of school adaptation, it can be seen that group sand play therapy is effective in improving school environment adaptation, school teacher adaptation, school class adaptation, school friend adaptation and school life adaptation. Second, the results of examining the effects on the self-esteem of multicultural family children through the group sand play therapy are as follows. Looking at the sub-factors of self-esteem, it can be seen that group sand play therapy has no significant difference in school self-esteem and is effective in improving overall self-esteem, social self-esteem, and family self-esteem. Third, the change coordination of sandboxes of elementary school children in multicultural families through group sand play therapy is as follows. Twenty participants in the experimental group attempted to express their unconsciousness, connect with and integrate consciousness while treating group sand play. In general, as the session progressed, the theme of the sandboxes of the participants became clear, and the arrangement of figures and sands showed structure and organization. In addition, while making sandboxes, they either resisted, confused, or displayed aggression, but they became increasingly aware, expressed them in sandboxes, and raised them in mourning. Children went through such a process that their self developed and accepted themselves. This helped the children to increase their self-esteem and promote school adaptation. Fourth, the process of sandboxing of multicultural families in the group sand play therapy is as follows. For objective evaluation, this study used the sand play therapy category checklist proposed by Migyeong Jang(2017). Mainly used figure categories and sand scenes are inferred into figure categories and sand scenes, which are mainly divided into the early (1~3 sessions), the middle (4~7 sessions), and the late (8~10 sessions). The subjects are as follows. Mainly used figure figures, household tools, architecture, automobiles, animals, imaginary and prototype beings, shadows and death models, natural objects, and natural structures decreased gradually in the early, middle, and late stages. Construction equipment and treasures increased in the early to mid-term and decreased in the later stages. Signs, women's goods increased gradually in the early, middle, and late periods, and food, religious and spiritual figures, and others increased in the late period only in the early and late periods, and increased in the early period, but decreased in the late period. It was. Weapons increased in the early and late stages, but decreased in the late stages. Food, religious and spiritual figures, weapons, and other things increased in the early and latter periods. The theme inferred by the sand scene is that the multicultural family elementary school children who participated in this study reduced the chaos, destruction, death, mourning, departure/leave, and independence/differentiation as the session progressed. Themes of self-axis, relationships, motherhood, conditioning, birth, treasure, centering, rest, femininity, other theme and conflict have increased. Initiation, divinity, masculinity, heroism, and competition appeared only in the middle of treatment. Only in the early and mid-treatment periods, centralization, rest, femininity, and other topics increased. As a whole, the themes of wounds are weakened, while the thematic expression of healing is changing, similar to the dominance, abundance, integration, and totality and reality. As a result of this study, we verified that the group sand play therapy had a positive effect on improving school adaptation and self-esteem of 8~13 year old children in elementary school. In addition, it can be seen that children of multicultural families are experiencing the process of healing their wounds and finding their true self by relieving negative emotions and expressing their wounds through group sand play therapy.
