In this thesis, a novel control strategy for the semi-active suspension system using the linear parameter varying system (LPV) based control design is proposed. Inspired by the ISO8608 standard, the road disturbance is parameterized and its parameters are employed as scheduling parameters for the gain-scheduled control design. A long-short-term-memory (LSTM) based neural network estimator using acceleration and control input signals is utilized for on-line parameter estimation. To reduce the number of scheduling parameters, a modified control-oriented semi-active suspension model has been employed. A static output gain-scheduled $\mathcal{H}_2$ controller is designed to improve riding comfort and road holding in discrete time. The proposed control strategy is tested for both quarter car and full car semi-active suspension system, considering the actuator dynamics. In the simulation study, the proposed control strategy shows an outperformance over the benchmark controllers, including skyhook, linear quadratic regulator (LQR), and passive suspension.
