The purpose of this study is to verify the dual mediating effects of maladaptive self-focused attention and anger rumination on the relationship between social stigma and dysfunctional anger expression of out-of-school youths. The research questions were as follows. First, is there a significant difference in dysfunctional anger expression, social stigma, maladaptive self-focused attention and anger rumination by the general characteristics(sex, age, family structure, time of leaving school) of out-of-school youths? Second, what is the relative effect of social stigma, maladaptive self-focused attention and anger rumination on the dysfunctional anger expression of out-of-school youths? Third, what is the specific mediating effect of maladaptive self-focused attention and anger rumination concerning the effect of the out-of-school youths' social stigma on their dysfunctional anger expression, respectively? Last, what is the dual mediating effect of maladaptive self-focused attention and anger rumination concerning the effect of out-of-school youths' social stigma on their dysfunctional anger expression? For this study, questionnaires were administered to 165 out-of-school youths who belong to out-of-school youth support centers, unaccredited alternative schools, and youth shelters located in Seoul and Gyeonggi. Of the 165 sets of questionnaires received, the study used 164 sets as the final analysis data, excluding one incomplete set. Data analysis was conducted through frequency analysis, technical statistics, reliability verification, Pearson's correlation and linear regression analysis using SPSS Statistics 21.0, and the dual mediating effect analysis was conducted using SPSS Macro. The main findings of this study are as follows. First, there was significant difference in anger-out by sex. Also, by family structure, there was significant difference in dysfunctional anger expression, social stigma, maladaptive self-focused attention and anger rumination. By time of leaving school, there was significant difference in social stigma. Second, concerning the relative effect of each variable on anger-out, revenge rumination was found to have the biggest influence, followed by sex and social stigma. Concerning the relative effect of each variable on anger-in, anger memories rumination was found have the biggest influence, followed by social stigma and cause rumination. Third, on the relationship between out-of-school youths' social stigma and dysfunctional anger expression, maladaptive self-focused attention had no significant mediating effect while anger rumination had partial mediating effect. Lastly, out-of-school youths' maladaptive self-focused attention and anger rumination were found to have sequential dual mediating effects on relationship between their social stigma and dysfunctional anger expression. By examining the dual mediating effects of maladaptive self-focused attention and anger rumination on the relationship between out-of-school youths' social stigma and dysfunctional anger expression, this study has provided basic data for psychotherapy interventions to help out-of-school youths who have dysfunctional anger expression problems from social stigma.
