First, the Baeja for boys developed though this study was referenced to the Baeja format of the museum, but improved by shortening the overall length and decreasing the difference between the front and back lengths, so that it may be more comfortable when sitting. The side line is completely open like the traditional Baeja, and the strap is made to be adjusted according to the change of the chest circumference, so that it can be worn even when grown.
Second, the Saekdong Magoja (rainbow-striped outer coat) developed in this study has different fabrics on the front and back to enhance the aesthetic effect. The design of the Saekdong Magoja was referenced to the museum format, but, as baby grows larger in length than width in infancy, the length is much more extended. And, as Magoja is characterized by having no collar and no tie string, a turtle-shaped button was attached thereto, pursuing convenience of putting on and taking off and wishing for longevity.
Third, the researcher's Kkachi Durumagi (rainbow-striped outer coat) was expressed in a step-by-step color scheme by attaching a collection of triangular fabric pieces. It takes a lot of time and effort to make the outer part. It was made to be worn up to the age of three by making the breast part loose. Fourth, Dapho (Kwaeja; sleeveless coat) was designed as a baby's outer garment by attaching a collar and gusset. Functionality and convenience were improved. In order to prevent the release of tie string when a child wears it and moves, the tie string part is made of three strands and fixed by using a snap button, and the shoulder part is made loose.
This study prepared basic materials related to baby’s first birthday clothes, which were not sufficient till now, by arranging materials through literature review and actual museum relic research on traditional boy's first birthday clothes. In addition, the significances of this study are that tradition of our clothes are much more understood and a reinterpreted modernized design is presented on the basis of these materials and many researchers’ experiences.
