This study investigated the effects of a 10-week 30-hour physical activity program for elementary school students on improving health and relieving stress during the COVID-19 pandemic. Preliminary evidence reports significant decreases in physical activity, increases in sedentary behavior, and disrupted sleep schedule/quality in children. The purpose of this study was to provide strategies for lasting behavior change to insure the health and well-being of children during the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, an experimental group of 53 students from 2 separate 5th grade classes of S Elementary School located in Seoul were selected to conduct the on/offline physical activities which was a 10-week, 30 period program. The control group was allowed to spend their usual school days without a program. For data analysis, the students went through physical strength examinations before and after the experiments. The results were analyzed through the matched pairs T-test utilizing the SPSS 18.0 for WINDOWS program. The conclusions obtained as a result of data analysis of this study are as follows. First, the physical activity program had an overall positive effect on the health and fitness of elementary school students. There was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the areas of muscle strength/muscle endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, and body fat percentage (p<.001). muscle strength/muscle endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, and body fat percentage. There was no statistically significant difference in flexibility and agility domains, but it was confirmed that the values of flexibility and agility of the control group decreased, while the values of the experimental group slightly increased. Second, by analyzing the effect of the physical activity program on the daily stress of elementary school students, a significant positive effect was found in the total area of daily stress measured by integrating all subareas of daily stress (p<.05). Especially, it was found that there was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the parent-related, and surrounding environment-related areas (p<.05). Therefore, it can be seen that the program to overcome health problems of the low levels of physical activity caused by COVID-19 is effective in improving the health of elementary school students and relieving daily stress. Since this global health crisis will likely continue into 2021, follow-up studies to support students' physical activity is required in the context of infectious diseases.
