The aim of the research is to investigate how the reality of school violence is represented in children's literature by examining the narrative method used in children’s and youth novels that contain school violence and examining its significance and direction. School violence is a significant problem in schools, where children and teenagers spend the majority of their time. Many narratives concerning school violence emerge in children's and youth literature, reflecting this reality, however academic approaches to school violence narratives are neglected, demanding an investigation. For this study, a total of 40 children's and youth novels were chosen from large bookstores, online stores, and children's libraries as works that dealt with school violence and had a coherent narrative on the subject. The 21 volumes of works separated into physical and relational violence that best demonstrate the characteristics were chosen and examined a second time. To research the overall component of school violence narrative, the first selected works were analyzed based on the categories of school violence, the role and description of the central characters, the factors and methods of coping with violence. As a result, school violence narratives were split into two types of violence: physical violence and relational violence, with physical violence narratives tending to be males and relational violence narratives tending to be females. Many works were described from the perspective of the bystander, and the point of time was the first person when the characters were separated into the roles of the perpetrator, victim, and innocent bystander. The desire for power, violent culture, the effect of family, stress eruption and profit-seeking, recognition, and dissatisfaction with the desired relationship are all discussed in the school violence narrative. In addition, as a response to violence, it demonstrated the course of self-overcoming, extreme death, avoidance and grace, reconciliation, and solidarity. After analyzing the first works, the character structure and conflict structure, response methods, and violence description methods were analyzed by dividing the second selected works into physical violence narratives and relational violence narratives in order to examine how school violence is reproduced and narrated in the works. The offender wanting power and the victim, the weak, and the bystander narratives stood out in the narrative of physical violence. The bystander made it more interesting by taking on different roles, and the narrative had a clear structure. Furthermore, the characters' conflict structure was evident, and their response to violence was direct, with them responding to violence with violence or displaying drastic methods of killing. Because narratives that illustrate the inner psychology of the perpetrator and victim are significant in relationship violence narratives, they are frequently written from the first-person character's perspective, with the bystander character primarily serving as a supporter who helps the victim. The victim and the perpetrator disguised themselves as friends in the conflict between characters, and there were also changes in the conflicting relationship, with the victim becoming the perpetrator or the perpetrator becoming the victim. Responding to violence has a passive image, such as avoiding or expressing depression symptoms, and it takes a peaceful approach of reconciliation or solidarity to respond to violence. According to the above analysis, the following is the school violence narrative: Firstly, it aids reflection on the composition of school violence by displaying the composition of violence, such as causes of violence and reinforcement factors. Secondly, it depicts the inner workings of characters such as victims, perpetrators, bystanders, etc. Thirdly, it demonstrates the impact of bystanders and supporters on victims and perpetrators of school violence, allowing them to consider their own attitudes about violence. Fourthly, it was important to demonstrate how to deal with violence so that they can think about what they should focus on in order to eradicate school violence. The aim of the research was to examine the narrative approach of school violence in children’s and youth novels to see how it is reproduced. This study show that school violence narratives have the limitations of fixed gender characteristic or a similar common framework. I hope that we will be able to break away from these limitations and make an attempt to reflect reality compassionately while reconstructing it with fresh perspectives and insights. Also, rather than injecting the artist's enlightening intention or overly emphasizing the educational nature, it is hoped that works that contain the subjective concerns and alternatives of children and youths will be created, paying attention to the reproduction of violence so that another violence does not occur in the narrative of school violence. Although this study is inadequate, it attempted to uncover features by examining previous school violence narratives; nonetheless, future school violence narratives may develop in a different manner. As a result, I'm hoping that following COVID-19, research will be undertaken with an emphasis on the school violence narrative.
