In this study, the current status of fire risk of piloti buildings and fire characteristics were analyzed, and the structural design status of piloti buildings in Korea and standards for fire design based on domestic and foreign performance were reviewed by reviewing the existing literature. In addition, in order to confirm the fire-resistant performance of reinforced concrete columns damaged by fire in the piloti space, the fire-resistant performance of the piloti structure exposed to fire is evaluated by analyzing the effect of the flame growth size and propagation speed. As described above, the results derived through real-scale fire experiments and fire simulations are as follows.
(1) As a result of quantitatively analyzing the results of measuring the maximum height and duration of the column local fire experiment, the maximum height of the flame was 1.15 higher and the duration was also 1.58 higher, indicating that both the maximum height and duration were higher than predicted. Accordingly, when calculating the height and duration of the heptane flame, it is judged that it is necessary to consider the air inflow rate, spatial temperature, and amount of flower garden by surrounding objects.
(2) Through the column local fire experiment, the design compression strength of the RC column was calculated to evaluate the history of the piloti column damaged by reconciliation after the fire broke out. In the RC and CN experiments, it was confirmed that the withstand forces were 17.7% and 0.2% lower than the predicted compressive strength of the RC column, respectively. As a result of the comparison, it may be seen that the effect of the CN panel was exhibited because the compressive strength of the CN experiment was higher than that of the RC experiment.
(3) As a result of the temperature measurement analysis of each compartment by performing a combustion test for medium-sized vehicles, the maximum temperature of the vehicle compartment was confirmed to be C3-2.0 to 51.6°C, and the maximum temperature outside the vehicle was E-1.0 to 350.5°C. This is thought to have increased the temperature due to tire explosion and window damage in the rear part. It was confirmed that the flame height increased by up to 3.5m, and the temperature and height of the flame are considered to have a direct effect on the structure.
(4) As a result of comparative analysis of the piloti parking space real disaster test and the medium-sized vehicle combustion test, the maximum temperature inside each vehicle was confirmed to be 995.6°C in I4 and 1,025.7°C in I2. Unlike the misfire test in which the window was opened, the combustion test did not open the window, so the flame could not erupt, so it is judged that the internal temperature was measured relatively high. In addition, as a result of comparing the temperature at the 2.0 m point where the maximum temperature was measured, it was confirmed that the temperature affecting the column was 1.08 to 2.07 higher than the parking space temperature in all experiments except the C2 experiment.
(5) It is analyzed that the slight difference in the time-temperature curve calculated by the FDS analysis is due to the thermal conductivity of the material, various material properties, and various environmental conditions. The higher the temperature, the higher the temperature was measured, which is believed to have been affected by the spreading flame in the ceiling. In addition, at most points, the maximum temperature of the real fire ash experiment was 1.01 to 1.54 higher than that of the FDS analysis. It is believed that the temperature varies depending on many variables such as the material properties of the vehicle and whether the window is opened or closed.
