This study categorized KOSPI 100 companies that manages Facebook corporate fan pages into B2B and B2C, then analyzed the contents they posted from January 1 to December 31, 2020. The result showed that B2C companies tend to use videos over images, prefer hashtags, and mention its product names compared to B2B companies. B2B companies prefer images, use more hyperlinks, URLs, and mention its company names. In B2B companies, image and text length had a positive effect on user engagement, while hyperlinks and URLs had a negative effect. B2C companies' text length had a positive effect on user engagement.
The study examined the findings of previous studies that revealed the difference in B2B and B2C companies' social media strategies and indicates that it can also be found in Korean companies. It also provides practical implications to PR practitioners as it provides information how to enhance user engagement when establishing a social media strategy.
