The purpose of this study is to understand the impact on quality of service of job training for life support workers working with elderly-care.
For this purpose, a structural equation model analysis method with the independent variable: job training, outcome variable: service quality, and perceived support for organizations was used as mediator variables through domestic and foreign literature reviews and empirical evidence related to job training and service quality. For data collection purposes, a survey was conducted from January 25th to February 5th, 2021, on 600 life support workers by visiting institutions for customized care services for the elderly in the metropolitan area (Seoul, Gyeonggi-do). Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 programs to analyze frequency, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, confirmative factor analysis, structural equation model verification, and multiple groups of life support workers.
Specific research results are as follows:
First, the absolute fit index, the absolute conformity index, and the incremental fit index of the hypothetical model were accurate.
Second, job training for life support workers of personalized elderly care service has been shown to have a direct and significant impact on service quality. Job training has also had a significant impact on the perception of organizational support, which in turn has been confirmed to have a significant and direct impact on quality of service.
Third, looking at the parameter: the perceived support for organizations and job training of life support workers working with personalized care services for the elderly has an indirect impact on service quality and a partial mediating effect.
Fourth, a multi-group analysis, comparing ownership related qualifications, confirmed that there was a difference in the presence or absence of relevant certificates. Furthermore, it has also been confirmed that there was a difference between social workers’ licenses and care workers’ licenses, which are the preferred conditions for employment of life support workers for customized elderly care services.
In conclusion, despite the limitations of this study, a structural model of factors affecting the quality of personalized care services for the elderly was presented. The results of this study will contribute to the strengthening and improvement of job training for life support workers within elderly-adjusted care, institutional support systems, and the quality of service provided in the future.
