As Internet technology continuous develops, social media have emerged, and the subjectivity of audiences has also increased, audiences today produce and consume content in the network. They become individuals who can have several virtual roles and can disclose themselves. Society is mostly dominated by collectives, including groups, organizations and communities, but the specific basic units of the network have become network-connected individuals. We must recognize the independent existence of individuals in the network. Specifically, first of all, the audience has some control over the network. They can drive or prevent the flow of information. Secondly, audiences obtain many social resources by network empowerment, and they themselves may be the ones who contribute resources through network empowerment, and they may be contributors to the resources. Most importantly, audiences are virtualized in the network, which means that individuals can define multiple roles andd decompose them freely. Each role contains realistic clues. However, it can not be ignored that the subjectivity of individuals is also limited by social power. Because audiences are always individuals in the real society, they will inevitably be affected by power when they show up on the network. In particular, the Internet has enormous communication power, which has forced individuals to establish a set of impression management strategies, both to avoid performance failure and to balance the different power relations. In such a context, this study takes Chinese students in Korea as the object of research, and uses the dramaturgy proposed by Goffman as the basis. It uses participant observation, in-depth interview, and content analysis of interview sources to explore the self-presentation and the social behavior of specific WeChat users . In the first chapter, in the process of combing the literature, valuable insights and research gaps are found. Three research questions are proposed. 1. How do Chinese students use WeChat to shape and maintain their personal image?; 2. How do Chinese students use WeChat to find group identity?; 3. How do Chinese students use WeChat to maintain and develop personal relationships? Through three research questions, this research attempts to show how the combination of mobile Internet, smartphone, WeChat, and other information technologies can rebuild the relationship between individuals and individuals, individuals and the group, individuals and society, and what role power plays in these relationships. To answer the first research question, this research discussed the hidden motivation and presentation process of Chinese students when using the Moment to introduce themselves, and then found the resulting characteristics of a personal image. The study found that when the self-presentation through Moment, Chinese students not only show the "idealized self" and "mystidied self" mentioned by Goffman, but also show the characteristics of "individual self-expression" and "collective self-construction", and shape their self-image with an inverted self-presentation based on "information suppression". To answer the second research question, this research discussed how Chinese students can create their public image. The characteristics of this image are shaped by like and comments. Chinese students show the collective identity through the "Topic Circle" function developed in 2021 and then achieve collective interaction. The study found that when Chinese students show up on the channel, they cross the boundary between "Front Stage" and "Back Stage" put forward by Goffman, which is also different from the concept of "middle region" or "side-stage" proposed by Meyrowitz. They show their self-image through "middle-stage active behavior" . Chinese students with the "Topic Circle" function to find their interested circles not only focus on the collective disaster in China to find the sense of identity but also try to focus on Korean attractions / Korean cuisine/ Korean language to find like-minded friends who can help reduce loneliness in a foreign country. To answer the third research question, this research mainly discussed how Chinese students use WeChat Moment. Chinese students want to maintain and stabilize strong ties. Channel is a mostly open platform to attract traffic. In particular, the newly developed "Topic Circle" is a "gathering place for people who share the same interests", which makes it possible to expand personal relationships with weak ties. When Chinese students use WeChat, they exhibit a "restricted mode of interpersonal communicaton". On the one hand, Chinese students do not speak without scruples to develop their relationships. On the other hand, Chinese students deliberately show themselves for a certain balance of power. Regarding the issue of power, patterns of cyber-migration have been discovered after Chinese students entered Korea. Chinese students tend to use multiple apps to introduce themselves differently. Whether using Moment or other social media to present themselves, Chinese students took their Chinese leaders, parents, and Korean guardians as their imaginary audience, deliberately showing them an image to assert themselves. Although the power-based deliberate self-presentation has certain constraints, some Chinese students believed that this deliberate self-presentation played some role in helping them get closer to their ideal selves. Furthermore, Chinese students' concerns about political power are well illustrated concerning China's offcial discourse on preventing the spread of COVID-19. The Chinese students used the "nominalization" strategy to express their dissatisfaction with China's policies related to the COVID-19 lockdown. The dramaturgy proposed by Goffman dealt primarily with self-presentation behavior in face-to-face communication. This research is significant in that it examined the online communication of Chinese students in Korea. This research also took the power structure into consideration which Goffman talked about less, to some extent can also correct the lack of structural dimension in his theory. From a practical point of view, the study of Chinese students' use of social media can play a certain reference role for enterprises to develop cultural products related to Chinese students, and can also play an active role in shaping policies by the Chinese government or the establishment of a psychological counseling mechanism linked to Chinese students.
