Functional ankle instability is accompanied by repeated ankle joint wobble, swelling, pain, weakness of ankle joint, inherent water-soluble sensory loss, ankle joint and mobility and balance impairment. Although there have been many previous studies on ordinary adults with functional ankle instability, research comparing the effects of plyometric and balance training on adolescent volleyball players with functional ankle instability has been lacking. Therefore, the above study was conducted to verify the effectiveness of ankle joint muscle activity, balance, and jumping ability on plyometric and balance training for adolescent volleyball players with functional ankle instability. In this study, two-group pretest-posttest design was applied to compare the differences in ankle muscle activity, balance and jumping ability when performing plyometric training and balance training for functional ankle instability adolescent volleyball players. 30 functional ankle instability adolescent volleyball players were randomly distributed, 15 were trained in plyometric training, and the remaining 15 were trained in balance training, and then the differences in ankle joint muscle activity, balance, and jumping ability were compared before and after 8 weeks of training. For a total of eight weeks, the plyometric training program was conducted in different ways by training parking. The training program included jumping from side to side, jumping back and forth, and an eight-shaped vault. Eight-shaped jumps were performed sequentially with eight-shaped vertices, while Figure 3 jumped diagonally 45 cm wide, and square jumps clockwise when jumping with the right foot and counterclockwise when jumping with the left foot. Each training was conducted 15 times per set, a total of two sets, and during the training, they rested for 60 seconds. The balance training program first allowed the study subjects to maintain balance for 60 seconds with their eyes open, and to rest for 60 seconds during the balance training. If it is difficult for the researchers to maintain their balance during exercise, they immediately stop and start again after 60 seconds. By training parking, the second phase was trained on a flat floor surface, and the rest of the parking was conducted on a balance plate suitable for balance training in both front and rear directions. After attaching the electrodes to the ankle joint muscle activity using a surface electromyogram, the researchers measured the muscle activity of abductor hallucis longus, peroneus longus, gastrocnemius when performing the single-legged jump landing task. For static and dynamic balance, the surface area/length of the gravity center point was measured by bio-rescue during the time to be measured. The results of the study were analyzed using the SPSS 26.0 for Windows program, and the significant level (α) for statistical verification was .05. The results of ankle joint muscle activity, static and dynamic balance, and jumping ability were analyzed in the corresponding sample t-test before and after training of the subjects. An independent sample t-test was conducted to compare the variation of the measured results before and after the training of the study subjects. The results showed that there was a significant difference in muscle activity of the abductor hallucis longus, peroneus longus, gastrocnemius before and after training in both the plyometric and balance training groups, and there was a significant difference in muscle activity between the two groups. In both the plyometric training group and the balance training group, there was a significant difference in the surface area and length of the static balance and the change value of the static balance surface area between the two groups was statistically significant. Although there was a significant difference in the surface area and length of the dynamic balance before and after the training, there was no significant difference in the dynamic balance surface area and length between the two groups. Although there was a statistically significant difference in the number of box jumps in both the plyometric and balance training groups, there was no significant difference in the number of box jumps between the two groups. It was found that the ability of ankle joint muscle activity, balance and jumping ability was significantly improved when plyometric training and balance training were applied to functional ankle instability adolescent volleyball players. Accordingly, the plyometric training and balance training can be useful for clinical use as therapeutic arbitration to enhance ankle joint muscle activity, balance ability, and jumping ability for functional ankle instability adolescent volleyball players.
