It is true that medical fields have been grown a lot in all its aspects and they have given much efforts to suppress intractable disease including atopic dermatitis. However, instead of decreasing those diseases, it is not controllably increased in recent years. Especially atopic dermatitis is now an issue in medical and social community because of its serious direct or indirect damages. So that, this study gives few suggestions for utilizing manipulative therapies in CAM to minimize direct or indirect atopic damages and to provide diverse medical service methods which have yet not been used in aptopic dermatitis patients and their family.

그럼에도 보완대체의학의 적용방법을 유추해 내기위해 각종 질환에 대한 국내·외의 사례나 인지도 등을 고려하여 보는 동안 시술자나 환자가 느끼는 보완대체의학 중 수기요법에 대한 의존도가 매우 높다는 것을 알 수 있었다.
또한 보완대체요법을 쓰는 이유는 ‘증상이 서양 정통의학을 사용할 필요가 있을 정도로 심하지 않은 상황이어서’가 60.4%, ‘건강증진과 질병예방을 위해서’가 49.3%로 나타났다.
또한 호주의 경우 암환자의 약 22%, 중증질환자의 약 50%가 보완대체의학을 사용하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며 호주 의사의 약 6분의 1정도가 보완대체의학에 깊은 관심을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
지난 97년 발족된 한국대체의학회(현 한국통합의학 회)에 따르면 국내에 보편화되고 있는 보완대체의학은 봉독요법, 심신의학, IMS, 아로마요법, 식이요법, 자연 요법, 동종요법, 카이로프랙틱, 증식요법, 인도의학 등 대략 20가지라고 하였으며, 특히 지난 2003년 대한의사협회와 가천의대 길병원에서 시행한 ‘국내보완대체의학의 합리적인 수용을 위한 정책연구’에서 보완대체의학 치료법에 대한 인지도 조사를 한 결과 IMS 44.4%, 카이로프랙틱24.6%, 테이핑 24.3%, 증식요법 23.2% 등의 순으로 나타났다.

이 점에 착안하여 아토피 치료 시에는 아토피 이외에도 간접적 피해 보상을 위한 청소년 또는 성인관련 임상 프로그램 특히, 만성질환 컨트롤이나 스트레스 매니지먼트와 같은 다채로운 임상적 서브메뉴들을 적극적으로 수용할 필요가 있다 할 것이다.
특히, 수기요법을 통한 신경균형이나 스트레스 이완이 아토피 피부염과 같은 신체질환 및 이외 질환에 대한 증상 완화방법이나 새로운 치료법으로 이용될 수 있을 것으로 사료되며 이후 아토피 피부염에 대한 직․간접적 적용에서 수기요법 프로그램은 치료를 위한 의료 활동에 가장 안정된 프로그램 중 하나로 인식되어질 수있는 것은 물론 잠정환자들과의 교류 및 홍보에 매우 중요한 교량역할을 수행하게 될 것으로 사료된다.
