Turbiscan®LAB의 측정은 농도와 입자크기에 영향을 받게 되는데 각각의 경우에 관한 세부사항은 어떠합니까? | 앞에서 언급했듯이 Turbiscan®LAB의 측정은 다중광산란법에 의해 측정되는데 이렇게 측정된 투과 또는 후방산란된 빛의 양은 농도와 입자크기에 영향을 받게 된다. 농도가 묽은 영역에서 측정된 빛 대부분은 투과에 의해 나타나며 농도가 증가할수록 투과량은 감소하고 시료의 농도가 임계농도에 이르면 더 이상은 투과량이 감지되지 않는다. 이때부터가 후방산란 영역으로 농도가 증가할수록 후방산란량은 증가하며 시료의 농도가 포화농도에 이르면 그 이후부터는 후 방산란된 빛의 양이 다시 감소하는 경향을 나타내는데, 이는 농도가 매우 짙어 인접한 입자 간의 거리가 아주 가까워서 각 입자에 의한 산란광이 서로 상쇄되는 Destructive interference가 일어나기 때문이다. 입자의 크기에 영향을 받는 경우, Turbiscan®LAB은 파장이 880 nm인 근적외선을 광원으로 사용하기 때문에 입자의 크기가 광원으로 사용되는 빛의 파장보다 작은 경우, 응집에 의해 입자의 크기가 증가하면 산란이 더욱 잘 일어나게 되어 후방산란된 빛의 양은 증가하고 투과된 빛의 양은 감소하는 경향을 보이며 파장과 입자의 크기가 같아지는 지점에서 후방산란된 빛의 양은 최대값, 투과된 빛의 양은 최소값을 보인다. 하지만, 입자의 크기가 광원으로 사용되는 빛의 파장보다 큰 경우로서 응집에 의해 입자의 크기가 증가하면 평균적인 입자 간의 거리가 멀어지기 때문에 후방산란된 빛의 양은 다시 감소하고 투과된 빛의 양은 다시 증가하는 경향을 나타낸다. 이러한 요인들을 종합적으로 참고하여 측정된 정보를 종합적으로 분석하여 시료의 안정성을 분석할 수 있다. | |
