Objective : To summarize and make a reference number of antihyperlipidemic herbal plants worldwide. Method : We surveyed all papers of antihyperlipidemic studies using herbal plants in Pubmed database as "hyperlipidemia AND herb", "hyperlipidemia AND herbal", etc. of Default Tag "Title". The number of papers, the formation of experiments, frequency of herbal plants studies, and main studies were analyzed. Result : Total 178 studies were finally selected. The number of papers were rapidly was increased since 1998. RCT studies were most papers(39.9%). Most studies were about plant sterol or plant stanol studies(78%). 10 papers studied about Herbal plants. Crataegus pinnatifida Bunge, Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, Alisma orientale(Sam.) Juz. and so forth were relatively studied much. Conclusion : This study produced an overview of worldwide antihyperlipidemic plants. This result may provide a valuable information for development of Korean herbal medicine against hyperlipidemia in the future.

총 178편의 연구 논문을 발표 연도, 발표 나라, 연구 방법, 연구 성분, 연구 결과를 분류하여 그림과 표로 정리하였다.

대상 데이터

논문은 PubMed에서 "hyperlipidemia AND herb", "hyperlipidemia AND herbal", "hyperch-olesterolemia AND plant", "hypercholesterolemia AND herbal", "hypertriglyceridemia A-ND plant", "hypertriglyceridemia AND herbal", "LDL-C AND plant", "HDL-C AND plant", "HDL-C AND herbal", "LDL-C AND herbal", "triglyceride AND herbal", "triglyceride AND p-lant", "cholesterol AND herbal", "hyperlipidemic AND plant", "hyperlipidemic AND her-bal", "hypercholesterolemic AND herbal", "hypertriglyceridemic AND plant", "hypertri-glyceridemic AND herbal", "high-density lipoprotein AND herbal", "cholesterol AND pl-ant", "hypercholesterolemic AND plant", "low-density lipoprotein AND herbal", "high-density lipoprotein AND plant", "low-density lipoprotein AND plant" 로 검색하였으며 중복되는 것을 제외하고 총 178편을 수집하였다.

성능/효과

chinese herbal medicine의 고찰 논문²⁶에 여러 단일 약재 및 성분과 처방들이 있었으며, 처방에 사용된 본초들을 중복하여 다른 9편의 논문의 약재와 종합하여 분석한 결과, 한약재는 49종이 사용되었으며, 본초학 책에 나오는 약물은 38개이며, 그렇지 않은 약물은 11개였다. 이 중 산사가 단일 약물 및 처방에 포함되어 11번의 횟수로 가장 많은 연구 발표가 되었고, 단삼이 10번의 횟수로 발표되었다.
본 연구에서 178편의 논문 중 139편의 주제는 식물성 스테놀(plant sterol) 및 식물성 스타놀(plant stanol)에 대한 연구 논문이었으며, 모두 고지혈증에 대한 효과가 있는 것을 발표한 논문이었다. 식물성 스테놀(plant sterol) 및 식물성 스타놀(plant stanol)은 콜레스테롤을 낮추는 효과가 있는 것으로 여러 논문에서 연구되었다^13,14.

후속연구

국내의 한의학회지에서도 지속적으로 고지혈증에 대한 연구 논문이 발표되는데, 본 연구에서 알 수 있듯이 세계적으로 점점 RCT 연구 논문 등의 근거중심의학을 통한 연구가 국내에서도 더욱 필요할 것으로 보인다. 또한 임상효과에 근거한 항고지혈증 후보한약물의 스크리닝 연구를 통해 한약물/천연물을 이용한 고지혈증 예방 및 치료제를 개발할 수 있다면 세계 시장의 수요를 볼 때 한의학의 과학화와 세계화를 동시에 이루는 계기가 될것으로 사료된다.
