리더십의 특징은 무엇인가? 그러나 현대사회로 접어들면서 일방적인 상하수직의 관계가 아니라 더불어 승-승 할 수 있는 상호 관계의 효율성이 검증되면서 변혁적 리더십, 서번트 리더십, 창의적 리더십 등 새로운 리더십 패러다임이 접목되기 시작 하였다. 즉 리더십은 타고 태어나는 능력이 아닌 누구나 교육을 통해 습득하고 함양할 수 있는 인간의 보편적인 역량이 라는 것이다. 또한 현대사회는 특정 리더를 요구하는 것이 아니라 지위와 환경을 초월하여 누구나 리더십이 요구되는 사회가 되었다.
동양의 예가 갖는 기능인 수기와 치인의 각 의미는 무엇인가? 우선 유가사상(儒家思想)에 바탕을 두고 있는 동양의 예는 수기(修己)와 치인(治人)의 기능을 갖는다. 먼저 수기란 스스로의 사람다움을 지니기 위한 것으로 자신에게 작용하는 기능을 가진다(對內對自的作俑). 이는 자기관리의 본질로서 절제를 의미하는 공자의 인(仁)사상과도 합치된다. 두 번째 치인은 남과 함께 지내는 대인관계를 뜻하는 것으로 자기내면을 다스리던 정성스런 마음을 타인을 대할 때도 똑같이 활용 하여 타인을 공경하고 사랑하는 것을 말한다(對外對他的作 用)[23]. 한편 서양에서 비롯된 리더십의 연구는 학자에 따라서 다양한 영역으로 구분하나 공통적으로 개인 스스로의 역량 함양을 위한 셀프리더십과 타인과의 조화로운 관계를 위한 관계리더십이 포함된다.
