인포그래픽이 발전하게 된 배경은 무엇인가? | 신문기사, 뉴스 등에서도 글로만 표현하지 않고 각종 그래프, 통계표, 수치 자료 등을 사용한 데이터 시각화(data visualization)를 꾀하고 있다(Kim & Shin 2014). 특히, 21세기의 눈부신 과학 발전, 인터넷의 대중화, 스마트 폰과 디바이스들의 등장은 SNS(Social Network Service)와 함께 방대하고 다양한 정보를 끊임없이 생산해내고 소비하고 있으며, 보다 경쟁적이고 즉시적인 형태로 정보를 가공하여 표현하려는 특징이 나타난다(Jung, 2012). 이러한 특징으로 말미암아 지금의 시대에는 정보, 사실, 사건 등을 단순히 전달되는 데 그치는 것이 아니라 다양한 그래픽을 이용하여 정보의 발생 배경, 원인, 현황, 전개 과정, 결과, 맥락 등이 강조된 스토리텔링적 요소와 방대한 정보를 효율적으로 전달하기 위해 시각화하는 요소가 결부된 인포그래픽(Infographic)이 발전하게 되었다(Kim & Shin, 2014). |
