This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between depression and adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) of college students. Collage students up to 350 people self-report survey was conducted using the Conners ADHD Rating Scale Korean version and Beck Depression Inventory. Adult ADHD symptoms prevalence was 5.1 % and the highest form of carelessness. Depression grade was $8.38{\pm}6.86$ points of college students and female students was higher than male students is depression grade, severe depression and modurate depressive symptoms were 2.1 %. Model of explanatory were slightly higher in 33.5%, adult ADHD affects depression and coexistence rate of adult ADHD symptoms and depressive symptoms was found to be 3.1%. Therefore, adult ADHD symptoms prevalence and depression of collage students seems to be relationship. Given the wide range of social and emotional problems due to adult ADHD seems necessary measures to establish a social dimension to adult ADHD.

대상 데이터

설문조사 전에 본 연구의 목적에 대하여 설명하고 본 연구의 자료는 학술적 목적으로만 활용될 것이며 원하는 경우에 참여할 수 있으며 참여하지 않는 경우에도 어떠한 불이익이 없음을 설명하고 자발적으로 참여하고자 하는 경우에만 실시하였다. 설문지는 총 370부 수거하였고, 회수된 설문지 중에서 일관된 중간값을 보이거나 무응답이 많은 경우와 ADHD 반응 비일관성지수(inconsistency index)가 8 이상인 20부를 제외한 350부를 최종 분석에 사용하였다.

데이터처리

성인 ADHD 증상이 대학생의 우울에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해 성인 ADHD 증상의 하위요인을 단계적으로 투입하는 위계적 다중회귀분석(hierarchical multiple regression)을 실시하였다.
다음으로 조사대상자의 인구사회학적 특성은 기술통계 분석을 실시하였고, 성인 ADHD 증상을 측정하기 위하여 T 점수를 산출하였다. 인구사회학적 특성에 따른 성인 ADHD증상자와 우울증상자를 알아보기 위하여 t-검정과 교차분석을 실시하였고 성인 ADHD 증상자와 우울증상자의 관계를 알아보기 위하여 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 유의수준은 .

이론/모형

본 연구에서 사용한 측정도구는 다음과 같다. 성인 ADHD 증상을 측정하기 위해 현재 경험하고 있는 성인 ADHD 증상을 측정하기 위해 Conners, Erhardt 및Sparrow(1999)[19]가 개발하고 김호영 등(2005)[20]이 번안한 한국판 Conners 성인 ADHD 평정척도(Conners’ Adult ADHD Rating Scales-Self-Report : Long Version-Korea : CAARS-S: L-K)를 사용하였다. 본 연구에서는 66문항으로 된 자기 보고형-장형을 사용하였으며, 4점 척도(0=전혀 그렇지 않다, 3=매우 그렇다)로 평정한다.
우울증상 정도를 파악하기 위하여 Beck, Ward, Mendelson, Mock, & Erbaugh(1961)[22]이 개발한 우울척도(Beck Depression Inventory: BDI) 도구를 이영호와 송종용(1991)[23]이 번역한 것을 사용하였다. BDI는 우울증상의 심각 정도를 파악하는 자기 판단 척도로 우울증의 정서적, 인지적, 동기적, 생리적 증후군을 포함한 21개 문항으로 구성되어 있다.

, 2004)[37] 성인을 대상으로 한 김주영, 곽호완, 장문선(2010)[38]의 연구에서 ADHD 성향을 가진 대학생은 비성향 대학생에 비해 유의미하게 높은 우울, 불안 수준을 보인다고 하였다. 본 연구에서는 성인 ADHD와 우울증의 공존율은 전체 학생 중에서는 3.1%로 나타났고 ADHD 증상자 중에서는 우울증상자가 61%로 나타나서 서보경의 연구[39]에서의 26%, Kessler et al.(2006)[29]의 18.6%와는 큰 차이를 나타내었다. 성별에 따른 우울의 차이는 나타나지 않았는데 이는 진현(2008)[32]의 연구 결과와 같다.
대인관계에서의 문제, 심한 감정 기복, 반사회적 행동, 우울 등은 성인 ADHD의 대표적인 문제라고 할 수 있다[28]. 본 연구에서도 성인 ADHD 증상과 우울과의 공존율이 61%로 높게 나타났고 성인 ADHD 증상과 우울과의 모형설명력이 비교적 높게 나타나서(R²=.335) 성인 ADHD의 경우 우울과 관련이 높았다.

후속연구

본 연구에서는 보건계열 학생을 대상으로 하였기 때문에 그 특성상 남자보다 여자의 비율이 더 높았고, 성인의 다양한 연령을 대상으로 하지 않았고 초기 성인인 대학생을 대상자로 하여서 성인을 대표하기에는 무리가 따른다고 하겠다. 이러한 본 연구의 제한점을 보완한 연구가 추후에 이루어져야 할 것이다.
