지적장애 아동이 학습에 어려움을 겪는 이유는? | 주의집중과 관련하여 일반 사람들은 일상생활에서 자동적으로 주의를 집중하고, 적극적․선택적으로 관련 자극에 초점을 맞추려고 노력하며, 학습상황에서는 더욱 의도적이고 계획적인 주의집중을 하게 된다. 그러나 지적장애 아동의 경우는 선천적으로 지적능력의 결함을 가지고 태어나며 이로 인해 수반되는 언어능력, 통찰력, 판단력의 결핍으로 주의집중이 곤란하고, 쉽게 주의가 산만해지며, 주의집중력의 지속시간이 매우 짧기 때문에 학습에 어려움을 갖게 된다[2-3]. 이러한 주의집중력의 결여는 학습의 실패뿐만 아니라 공격, 반사회적 행동, 반항, 위축 등의 부적응적인 행동으로 나타나, 사회에서 고립되거나 거부당하기 쉽고,이는 결국 부정적인 자기 인식과 학습된 무기력으로 이어지며 또래 관계 경험 부족의 원인이 되어 사회적 능력 향상을 더욱 어렵게 만드는 요인으로 작용하게 된다[4-6]. |
