학업중단 청소년이 더 높은 수준이 스트레스를 경험할 가능성이 높은 이유는 무엇인가? | 이들이 경험하게 되는 스트레스 강도는 일반적 수준의 신체, 심리, 정서, 인지적 변화로 인해 경험하게 되는 급격한 발달적 변화 뿐 만 아니라 사회적 역할변화에 있어서도 또래보다 더 높은 수준의 스트레스를 경험할 가능성이 높다. 학업중단 청소년은 동년배 청소년보다 이른 사회진출로 인한 학생신분의 변화, 외부 환경에서 받는 요구, 부모의 기대 및 책임감의 증가 등에 따른 재적응을 위한 노력을 하게 되는 과정에서 높은 수준의 위기 반응인 스트레스를 경험하기 때문이다. 문제는 스트레스가 없는 상황을 만드는 것은 가능하지 않으므로 스트레스에 잘 대처하고 적절하게 해소하는 것이 필요하다[14]. | |
학업중단은 개인적 측면에서 어떠한 문제를 발생시키는가? | 학업중단으로 인한 결과는 국가적 측면에서는 노동력 감소로 인한 생산력의 손실, 사회복지비용의 증가, 범죄율 증가, 안정적 직업구조의 붕괴 등으로 이들이 성인되어 사회에 진출 했을 때 재교육을 시켜야 하는 사회적비용의 증가로 나타난다[8,9,10,11]. 또한 개인적 측면에서는 저학력으로 인한 직업 선택의 낮은 경쟁력, 비행 또는 범죄에 노출 될 가능성, 개인의 낮은 경제력 수준 촉발요인, 대인관계에서의 낙인감 경험 등의 만성적 스트레스에 노출하게 하며 이로 인해 개인의 삶의 질에 대한 만족도를 낮추어 국가적으로 비행, 범죄와 같은 사회적 문제를 초래하게 한다[12]. |
