연속 수행력 검사는 어떻게 진단하는 방법인가? 연속 수행력 검사(CPT)는 각성도(vigilance)나 주의집중력(attention)을 평가하는 가장 흔한 실험실 도구이다.40) 이 방법은 시각적, 청각적 자극 등을 주고 이 중 표적자극에 대한 반응을 하도록 하여 정반응수, 반응하지 못한 자극수(omission errors), 표적자극이 아닌 자극에 잘못 반응한 수(commission errors), 반응시간 등을 측정하는 것이다. 이는 학령기 및 학령전기 아동에서 정상 아동과 ADHD 아동을 구별하기 위해 효과적이며, 약물 치료 반응에 대한 평가 도구로도 이용될 수 있으나,41,42) 지적인 능력이 우수할 경우 예측도가 낮고 우울이나 불안 같은 다른 정신과적 질환과의 감별에는 한계가 있다.
