우리나라 치매 환자는 어느 정도인가? | 이유로는 치매 유병율이 점차 증가되고 있으며 이 질병으로 노인 환자와 가족에게 미치는 사회경제적 영향이 클 뿐만 아니라 점진적으로 말기에 이르는 신경성 퇴행성 질환으로 사망할 수 있기 때문이다[1,2]. 우리나라 치매 유병율은 10.0%로 현재 70만 명의 치매 환자가 있으며[3] OECD 국가 중 노인인구의 가장 빠른 증가로 치매 노인 환자의 비율 역시 빠르게 증가하고 있고 치매로 인한 사망도 2014년의 10만 명당 8.7명에서 2015년에는 9.9명으로 2014년 대비 14.0% 증가하였다[4]. 다른 질환자와 달리 치매 환자는 인지기능의 변화, 정신행동증상과 가족의 사회경제적 부담 등과 같은 여러 복합적인 문제들로 인하여 환자의 돌봄이 힘들다고 보고 되고 있다[5,6]. |
