다한증 치료에 대한 한계는? 기존 의료계에서는 국소 다한증 환자에게 단계적 으로 염화알루미늄(Aluminum chloride hexahydrate 15-20%) 용액 국소 도포, 보툴리눔 독소 주입, 이온도입법, 항콜린성 약물 복용, 성상신경 차단 또는 교감신경 절제 등의 수술요법을 적용해왔으며 5 , 최근에는 레이 저나 6 극초단파를 이용해 땀샘을 파괴하는 방법을 시도하기도 하는데 7 , 이러한 치료법들은 치료효과가 오래 유지되지 못하여 재발이 쉽게 일어나며 보상성 다한증 등의 부작용이 발생하기도 한다. 다한증 치료에 1차적으로 활용하는 염화알루미늄 용액 도포는 일시 적으로 도움이 될 뿐 치료효과가 6주 이상 지속되지 못하며 8 , 보툴리눔 독소 주입은 특히 액와부 다한증에 대해 6-9개월가량 치료효과가 지속된다고 보고된 바있으나 9 비용이 비싸고 주입시 통증이 심하며 안구건조, 소화불량, 국소 출혈 등의 부작용을 야기하고, 무엇보다도 독소의 적정 주입 용량이 아직 불분명하다 10 . 최후의 수단인 수술요법조차 부작용인 보상성 다한증의 발생률이 높아 효과적인 치료법이라고 볼 수 없다. 국내에서 R3 교감신경 절단술을 시행받은 수부 다한증 환자의 보상성 다한증 발생률은 83.
