본 연구에서는 외국인 유학생의 성격강점이 대학생활적응에 영향을 미치는지 살펴보고, 문화적응스트레스가 매개효과를 가지는지를 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 선행연구를 바탕으로 연구 모형을 설정하고, G시와 N시에 소속된 외국인 유학생 263명을 대상으로 조사를 실시하고, spss 통계 프로그램을 활용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 외국인 유학생의 성격강점은 대학생활적응에 영향을 미치고 있었으며, 외국인 유학생의 문화적응스트레스는 성격강점과 대학생활적응 간의 관계를 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 문화적응스트레스를 감소시키는 프로그램을 개발하고, 외국인 유학생들의 대학생활 적응을 위한 지속적인 상담과 전문상담사를 대학 내에 두는 것이 필요함을 제안하였다.
