업사이클링이란 무엇인가? 최근 지속가능한디자인이 동시대의 키워드이자트렌드로 자리 잡음에 따라 지속가능한 디자인 범주 안에 있는 업사이클링 디자인(Up-cycling Design)에 대한 연구가 주목받고 있다. 업사이클링은 upgrade와 recycling의 합성어로, 재활용품에 새로운 디자인과 기술을 접목시켜 고부가가치의 제품으로 재탄생하는 새활용의 의미로 제품, 패션, 조형예술까지 다양한 업사이클링의 영역으로 확대되고 있다(SocialEQ, 2014).
