본 연구는 도서관이 미래역량을 함양할 수 있는 기관이자 공간으로 주목받고 있는 시점에서, 현재 공공도서관에서 운영하고 있는 미래역량 프로그램 현황을 전반적으로 조사하고 이와 함께 빅데이터 분석을 통해 도서관과 미래역량에 대한 사회적 인식을 조사하고자 하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 미래역량이라는 키워드로 프로그램이 기획 및 제공되고 있으나, 대부분 메이커스페이스 프로그램 및 에듀테크 프로그램, 체험 프로그램 등으로 한정되어 있으며, 세부 프로그램 종류도 3D, 코딩, AR, VR 등을 활용한 프로그램이 주를 이루고 있다. 또한, 미래역량별로 프로그램을 제공하기 보다는 미래역량이라는 포괄적인 의미로 프로그램을 제공하고 있다. 둘째, 빅데이터 분석을 통한 인식조사에서는 교육, 미래역량, 도서관 등의 빈도가 높게 나타났으며, 도서관의 독서, 책, 문화, 프로그램 등이 미래역량 강화와 관련이 있는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 이에 향후 도서관은 미래역량별로 체계화된 프로그램을 개발할 필요가 있으며, 더불어 생애주기를 고려하여 연령별·대상별 미래역량 프로그램이 다양하게 개발되어야 한다.
