본 연구는 문화체육관광부에서 추진하고 있는 큰글자책 보급 지원 사업에 보조 사업자로 참여하고 있는 한국도서관협회가 제작 및 보급하고 있는 큰글자책의 현황과 서지적 특성을 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 연구 목적 달성을 위해 2009년부터 2022년까지의 제작도서 목록을 분석한 결과 평균 종수는 20.5권이고 책수는 21.7권이었다. 선정된 도서의 주제 분야는 '문학(39.5%)'이 가장 많았고, 번역서의 비중은 19.9%였으며, 가장 많은 책이 선정된 저자는 총 6권의 법륜 스님이었다. 또한 큰글자책이 보급된 공공도서관은 매년 평균 454곳이었는데, 향후 이 사업이 안정적으로 지속되면서 더 높은 성과를 거둘 수 있도록 연구 결과를 바탕으로 정책적 측면, 선정의 측면, 제작을 위한 측면, 안내의 측면에서 각각 적정 방안을 모색해 제언하였다.
