스마트공장 구축 사업은 국내 및 국외에서 지속적으로 수행되고 있다. 특히 불확실성이 증대하는 시기에는 기업의 생산성 향상을 위해 스마트공장에 대한 관심이 높아지기도 한다. 현재 국내에서도 정부 주도의 스마트공장 구축 사업이 지속적으로 추진되어 오고 있다. 이러한 구축사업의 가시적인 성과가 생산성 향상, 품질개선, 원가 절감 등의 지표들에서 매우 긍정적으로 나타나고 있다. 반면에 스마트공장 구축 후에 운영상의 어려움 등을 파악하는 설문조사에서는 다양한 내용들이 나타나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2017년과 2020년에 시행된 설문조사 내용에 나타난 시스템 구축 후 운영상의 어려움(문제점)등을 분석하여 이들에 대한 개선 방안을 도출하였다. 이러한 개선 방안들이 스마트공장 구축 사업의 해당 과정에서 시행된다면 기업들이 느끼는 운영상의 어려움 등이 감소될 것으로 보이며, 기존보다는 만족도가 높은 시스템이 구축될 수 있을 것이다.
