Purpose : This study examined the effects of college students' occupational value and social support on their career decision status. Methods : This research was conducted between May 6 and May 30 in 2023 with 228 college students from city B in South Korea as the study participants. The frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation of the collected data were analyzed, while t-test, ANOVA test, Scheffe's test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and a multivariate regression analysis were conducted using the SPSS/WIN 22.0 program. Results : The analysis revealed that the research subjects had an average occupational value of 3.58±.44, social support of 4.18±.56, and a career decision status of 2.82±.59. Notably, a significant difference in the career decision status of the students was observed with regard to their fields of major (F=2.36, p=.019), However, no other variable demonstrated a significant difference. The confidence level pertaining to career decision-making was found to be positively correlated with the pursuit of status and self-direction (r=.25, p<.001), pursuit of creativity (r=.16, p=.017), pursuit of relationship (r=.35, p<.001), pursuit of diversity and change (r=.16, p=17), pursuit of interest (r=.19, p=.003), pursuit of compensation (r=.29, p<.001), pursuit of professionalism (r=.46, p<.001), material support (r=.25, p<.001), appraisal support (r=.35, p<.001), informational support (r=.32, p<.001), and emotional support (r=.29, p<.001). Moreover, the indecision level related to career decision-making demonstrated a positive correlation with the pursuit of excellence (r=.17, p=.010). The factors that affected the confidence level of career decision-making included appraisal support (β=.29, p<.001) and pursuit of compensation (β=.19, p=.003), whose collective explanatory power was 15 %. It was further observed that appraisal support (β=-.27, p<.001), pursuit of professionalism (β=-.16 p=.017), pursuit of excellence (β=.17, p=.005), and the field of major (β=-.16, p=.012) largely influenced the indecision level related to career decision-making, together bearing an explanatory power of 17 %. Conclusion : The results of this study have important implications for enhancing college students' career decision status. Moreover, further research investigating the diverse variables that affect students' career decision status is necessary, along with effective endeavors to improve education and develop programs that positively affect college students' career decision status.

하지만 대학생을 대상으로 직업가치, 사회적 지지, 진로결정수준을 동시에 고려한 연구는 많지 않다. 이에 본 연구는 대학생을 대상으로 그들이 인식한 직업에 대한 가치, 사회적 지지가 진로결정수준에 미치는 영향을 분석함으로써 대학생의 진로지도를 위한 기초자료로 제공하고자 한다.

제안 방법

대상자의 진로결정수준에서 하위영역인 미결정수준에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위해 다중회귀분석을 한 결과는 Table 6과 같다. 진로결정수준의 미결정수준을 종속변수로 하고 확신수준에 유의한 상관관계를 보인 흥미 추구, 수월성 추구, 전문성 추구, 물질지지, 평가지지, 정보지지, 정서지지와 일반적 특성 중 진로결정수준에 유의한 차이가 있는 전공계열을 독립변수로 하였다. 오차의 자기상관(잔차의 독립성)을 검정하기 위해 시행한 Durbin-Watson 통계량이 2.
진로결정수준은 Osipow 등(1976)이 개발하고 Koh(1993)가 번안한 것을 사용하였다. 총 14문항으로 진로결정수준에 확신수준 2문항과 진로미결정수준 12문항으로 구성되었다. 각 문항은 5점 척도로 ‘전혀 아니다’ 1점부터 ‘매우 그렇다’ 5점까지 측정하도록 되어 있으며 점수가 높을수록 진로결정수준이 높음을 의미한다.

대상 데이터

본 연구의 대상자는 일개 광역시에 소재한 4개 대학의 재학생을 편의 추출하였다. 표본 크기는 G*power 3.
95를 투입할 경우, 표본 수는 195명이었으며 탈락률 20 %를 고려하여 234명을 자료수집 대상자로 선정하였다. 수집된 설문지 234부 중 불성실한 응답 6부를 제외하여 총 228부를 최종 분석에 사용하였다.

데이터처리

1) 대상자의 일반적 특성은 빈도와 백분율로 분석하였고, 직업가치, 사회적 지지, 진로결정수준 정도는 평균과 표준편차를 이용하여 분석하였다.
2) 대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 직업가치, 사회적 지지, 진로결정수준의 차이는 t-test와 one-way ANOVA로 분석하였고, 사후검증은 Scheffe test를 이용하여 분석하였다.
3) 대상자의 직업가치, 사회적 지지, 진로결정수준과의 상관관계는 Pearson correlation coefficient로 분석하였다.
4) 대상자의 진로결정수준에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위하여 다중회귀분석을 사용하였다.

이론/모형

사회적 지지는 Park(1985)이 개발하고 Yi(2009)이 수정·보완한 것을 사용하였다
직업가치는 Kim(2012)이 개발하고 Choi(2015)가 수정·보완한 것을 사용하였다
진로결정수준은 Osipow 등(1976)이 개발하고 Koh(1993)가 번안한 것을 사용하였다. 총 14문항으로 진로결정수준에 확신수준 2문항과 진로미결정수준 12문항으로 구성되었다.

성능/효과

다중회귀분석 결과 진로 결정수준의 미결정수준에 영향을 미치는 요인은 평가지지(β=-.27 p<.001), 전문성 추구(β=-.16 p=.017), 수월성 추구(β=.17, p=.005), 전공계열(β=-.16, p=.012)이었다

본 연구에서 대상자의 직업가치는 5점 만점에 3.58±.44점이었으며, 하위영역 중 흥미 추구가 가장 높았고, 다음으로 전문성 추구로 나타났으며, 가장 낮은 영역은 보상성 추구 였다
연구대상은 다르지만 Park과 Kim(2017)의 연구에서는 직업가치의 하위영역 중 흥미, 전문성, 보상, 성취감이 진로결정수준과 관련성이 있었으며, 사회적 지지 또한 양의 상관관계를 나타내어 본 연구결과와 일치하였다. 부모, 친구, 교수 등이 대학생의 진로결정에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 사회적 지지는 직업세계로의 이행을 준비하는 대학생들의 스트레스를 줄여주고 정서적 안정감을 주며 진로결정과정에서의 어려움을 극복하도록 지원해주는 중요한 변인으로서 대학생들의 진로와 관련한 준비 및 결정 행동에 시사하는 바가 크다(Kim & Choi, 2020).
진로결정수준의 확신수준에서 양의 상관관계를 나타낸 것은 직업가치 하위영역 중 지위·자기주도, 창의성, 관계성, 다양성 및 변화, 흥미, 보상성, 전문성이었으며, 사회적 지지의 하위영역 중에서는 물질지지, 평가지지, 정보지지, 정서지지였다. 진로결정 미결정수준에서는 직업가치 하위영역 중 수월성에서 양의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 연구대상은 다르지만 Park과 Kim(2017)의 연구에서는 직업가치의 하위영역 중 흥미, 전문성, 보상, 성취감이 진로결정수준과 관련성이 있었으며, 사회적 지지 또한 양의 상관관계를 나타내어 본 연구결과와 일치하였다.

후속연구

첫째, 본 연구는 일부 지역의 대학생을 대상으로 하였으므로 연구결과를 일반화하기 어려우며, 3개의 변수를 동시에 비교한 연구가 드물어 직접적인 비교가 힘들므로 추후 반복 연구가 필요하다. 둘째, 대학생의 진로결정수준에 영향을 미칠 것으로 예측되는 다양한 변수들을 포함시킨 후속 연구가 필요하다. 셋째, 대학생의 직업가치, 사회적 지지, 진로결정수준을 향상시킬 수 있는 중재 프로그램의 개발과 그 효과를 검증하는 연구가 필요하다.
진로는 개인의 직업과 관련된 모든 활동과 경험을 의미하며 진로 선택과 계획은 개인의 일생에서 가장 중요한 문제 중의 하나이다(Kang & Kang, 2015). 따라서 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 대학생의 진로결정수준을 향상시키기 위해서 직업가치, 사회적 지지 향상을 고려한 교육 및 진로전략이 필요할 것으로 보인다.
둘째, 대학생의 진로결정수준에 영향을 미칠 것으로 예측되는 다양한 변수들을 포함시킨 후속 연구가 필요하다. 셋째, 대학생의 직업가치, 사회적 지지, 진로결정수준을 향상시킬 수 있는 중재 프로그램의 개발과 그 효과를 검증하는 연구가 필요하다.
본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 다음과 같이 제언한다. 첫째, 본 연구는 일부 지역의 대학생을 대상으로 하였으므로 연구결과를 일반화하기 어려우며, 3개의 변수를 동시에 비교한 연구가 드물어 직접적인 비교가 힘들므로 추후 반복 연구가 필요하다. 둘째, 대학생의 진로결정수준에 영향을 미칠 것으로 예측되는 다양한 변수들을 포함시킨 후속 연구가 필요하다.
