Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the association between addiction of smart phone and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) among some college students. Methods: Total 200 university students were selected using convenience sampling methods. Demographic characteristics, smart phone associated characteristics, smart phone addiction and ADHD were collected by self-reported questionnaire on 18~19 September 2012. The associations between subject"s characteristics and ADHD were tested with chi-square tests, t-test and multiple logistic regression analysis. Result: Of 200 study subjects, 58 (29.0%) were addicted to smart phone. And the prevalence of ADHD was 19% (38 subjects). In simple analysis, age, allowance, smart phone addiction and addiction score were associated with ADHD. In multiple logistic analysis, addiction of smart phone (OR= 2.39, 95% CI=1.10~5.19) and higher addiction score (1.07, 1.01~1.13) were significantly associated with having ADHD. Conclusion: Addiction of smart phone was associated with adult ADHD. Considering these results will help in preventing and managing ADHD. Larger and prospective studies with other university students are needed to clarify the association between smart phone addiction and ADHD.
