This paper is the study of the relation between European Integration and German reunification as well as the comparative study between East German area’s integration to the EU and the EU enlargement in East Europe. The European Integration brought the increase of multi-lateral and bi-lateral exchange between Germany and its neighbor countries. It helped Germany to gain the support from its neighbor countries for German reunification. The common point that East German area’s integration to the EU after German reunification and the EU enlargement in East Europe in 2004 and 2007 shared, is that the Soviet union’s former satellite countries’ integration into the EU is closely related to the end of Cold war and the weakened influence of the Soviet Union. In the context of the process of EU integration, German reunification differ from the EU integration in East Europe. East German area’s integration into the EU was achieved without negotiation and treaty that EU enlargement for another candidate country required. Considering German reunification as the extension of West Germany, the EU could not intervened in German reunification while EU prepared well-organized programmes to support East European economies in transition. East European candidates countries had to meet the EU’s acquis communautaire to acquire accession to the EU. Bulgaria and Romania which could not meet EU’s acquis communautaire were excluded from EU enlargement in East Europe in 2004.
