A Study on Self-Efficacy among the Elderly Persons: National Senior Public Work(NSPW) and Senior Volunteer Activities

The purpose of this study were to examine major determinants of self-efficacy among participants of National Senior Public Work (NSPW) and senior voluntary activities, and to explore some relationships among self-efficacy, socio-economic factors, health factors, and economical factors. Three hundred elderly persons were interviewed and two-hundred-sixty-nice were analyzed in this study. The descriptive statistics, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression were used for the data analysis in this study. The study found that the respondent’s sex, physical health, mental health status, and economical levels were statistically significant to self-efficacy in analysis of variance. And it also found that sex, ages, education, mental health, and KGHQ were major determinants of self-efficacy among the respondents. For participants of NSPW, sex, ages, living arrangements, mental health, and KGHQ were major determinants of self-efficacy. And sex, ages, education and KGHQ were major determinants of self-efficacy among the participants of senior voluntary activities. Finally, some public policy implications were discussed for the NSPW and senior voluntary activities in relation to self-efficacy among the elderly persons for the successful aging.
