(ArF excimer : λ= 193 nm, XeCl excimer : λ= 308 nm,and Nd:YAG : λ= 1064 and 532 nm)을 사용하여 여러 가지 다른 주위환경(argon, neon, air, and helium)과 압력(760-10 Torr)하에서 연구를 수행하여 비교하였다.

Recently, laser ablation and subsequent development of a highenergy dense plasma are receiving increased attention for direct spectrochemical analysisof solid materials. Laser excitation sources are particularly useful for remote analysis, refractory materials, nonconductive solids, in-situ analysis of a point on a surface, andlocal analysis. Observation of the plasma using atomic emission spectroscopy is themost direct method for analysis and offers the possibility of simultaneous multielementanalysis.Laser-induced plasma emission was investigated by time-integrated spatiallyresolved and time-resolved spectrometry. The comparative work on the copper plasmaemission characteristics, specifically self-absorption, line-broadening, emission intensity, and metal ion formation under various atmospheric gases (argon, neon, air, and helium)and pressures (760-10 Torr) was carried out by the use of three different laser systems(ArF excimer : λ= 193 nm, XeCl excimer : λ= 308 nm, and Nd:YAG : λ= 1064 and532 nm). The effects of pressure and of atmosphere on Laser-induced plasma cratedabove the surface of copper and lead targets were studied with the use of emissionmeasurements. These factors greatly influenced the shape, size, line-to-background(L/B) ratio, and temperature of the plasma. The emission line at 510.55 nm showed nobig change in linewidth as the delay time of the gate from the laser pulse increased, while the lines at 515.32 nm and 521.82 nm are identified to show a great change inline shape and bandwidth as the expansion proceeds. The differences inself-absorption and line broadening phenomena in the plasma location was explained byshock wave driven excitation mechanism for atoms in outer region in the plasma. Theexcitation temperatures of the plasma induced by 308 or 532 nm irradiation were alsomuch higher that those induced by 1064 nm irradiation.Time-resolved plasma emission spectrometry developed in this project has beenapplied for quantitative elemental analysis of metal alloy and rock samples. Theanalytical signal were integrated within 2.0 μs at an optimum delay time of gate (200ns) which was derived from the evaluation of temporal behavior in plasma emissionsignal. Calibration curves for various elements including Mg, Cu, Cr, Ca, Si weredeveloped on the absolute concentration scale. The detection limits (S/N ration = 3)are element-dependent and varied with complexity in sample composition but are on theorder of 5-30 μg/g.The primary advantages of laser-induced plasma emission spectrometry are that itcan be used for the direct determination of elements in solids, and can be applied, whenspeed is important, to on-line analysis. It can be used to analyse metals, in plants, toinvestigate and classify geological materials and chemical products, and to controlproduct quality, etc.
