Ⅳ. 연구개발결과
○ 제1세부과제 : 생분해성 육묘배지 파종시스템 개발 및 배지효과 비교시험
- 혈공부, 파종부, 벨트 컨베이어 이송부, 관수부 등으로 구성된 진공노즐식 파종시스템을 개발하였다.

○ 제1협동과제 : 수경재배용 생분해성 육묘배지 개발
- 다양한 소재의 전분을 탐색 및 적용하여 수경재배용 배지에 적합한 옥수수 전분을 선발하였다.
- 선발된 옥수수전분의 부족한 물성을 여러 종류의 생분해성 수지를 단독 혹은 혼합 적용하여 내수성 및 폼배지의 강도를 증가시켰다.
- 첨가제 활용에 의해 과발포성 제어 및 원료의 상용성 등을 개선하였으며, 물성을 최적화하여 실제 수경재배에 사용될 수 있는 물성을 지닌 전분계 배지 후보군 4종을 제조하였다.
- 전분계 배지 후보군을 공시하여 발아시험을 실시한 결과 기존 우레탄 스펀지 배지와 동일한 수준의 발아율을 보였다.
- 생분해도는 45일 경과 시 96.1%로 나타나 수경재배 배지로서의 적용 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.

○ Development of seedling systemfor biodegradable mediumand effect test with developed medium This study was conducted to develop a seeding system and carried out the performance test in order to develop the seeding technique which it is applicable for biodegradable medium of hydroponic.
The results are as follows : the vacuum nozzle type seeding system consisting of dibbling part, seeding part, belt conveyor transport unit was developed.
The seeding test result seeding about 4 kinds of development culture medium(Ecoflex, PLA, PCL, PVA) was 100%, the efficiency of work showed up as 180 trays (128 cell-plug tray) per hour.
Germinating rate in the Ecoflex among the biodegradation property medium showed 90% more than 8%~14% on the other medium, and the level of germinating rate of it was similar to the urethane sponge medium.
Germinating rate after sowing by the seeding system on the 72 cell-plug tray filled out a Ecoflex was 100% and root formation in the medium was good.
The growth characteristic such as the number of leaf, leaf length, and leaf width in the starch medium as the raising seedling supporter was similar to urethane sponge medium. The starch medium didn't have an effect on the EC and pH for the cultivation period.
○ Development of new biodegradable medium using starch in hydroponics
1. Development of new starch medium in hydroponics
In this study, we aim to use water resistance and foaming starch to produce of medium suitable for hydroponics. The corn starch, modified corn starch, glutinous cornstarch, wheat starch, tapioca starch and potato starch were used. Of these, cornstarch showed the best property in terms of water resistance and foaming characteristics.
2. Screening of biodegradable resin for improvement of water resisting quality
A select corn starch was not sufficient for hydroponics owing to the lack of water resistance. Consequently, biodegradable resin was used for improvement of water resistance. The poly lactic acid(PLA), Polycaprolactone(PCL), Polybutylene adipate terephtahalate(PBAT, Ecoflex), Polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) were used alone or blend. The twenty percent of PBAT(Ecoflex) showed the best property of them all. Especially, the germination percentage showed the result of more than to equal with existing urethane medium.
3. Screening of Functional chemical constituents
In this study, we used an epispastic to control forming cell size and used compatibilizing agents to improve compatibility and dispersibility. Tested epispastics was CaCO3 in concentration ranging from 0.2% to 1.0%, the CaCO3 was helpful for water holding function and ductility. Waxs and glycerol ester of fatty acids were considered as compatibilizing agents, the Waxs(Almax 2070) in concentration ranging from 0.2% to 1.0% was used as compatibilizing agents finally. As a result, homogeneity of foaming cell, as well as compatibility and dispersibility has quite improved.
4. Recommendation of an essential component of Starch medium
The four kinds of candidate starch medium were derived from the foregoing conditions and then growth and development test was carried out. the four kinds of candidate medium were starch and PBAT, starch and PBAT-PLA blend, starch and PBAT-PCL blend, starch and PBAT-PVA blend. Of these, the medium consisting of starch and PBAT was shown the best germination and growth percentage
6. Analysis of starch medium biodegradability
We analyzed the biodegradability of the four kinds of candidate starch mediums by KTR(Korea testing & Research Institute). The method of biodegradability analysis was KS M ISO 14855-1:2013. The biodegradability per candidate starch medium was 89.7%(starch and PBAT), 96.1%(starch and PBAT-PLA blend), 76.2%(starch and PBAT-PCL blend), 84.1%(starch and PBAT-PVA blend).
