○ To support “Agricultural Environmental Conservation Programs” of Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs of Korean government, data bases for environmental effects of the conservation practices for arable soil, water, air quality and associated changes in crop produc
□ Purpose&Contents
○ To support “Agricultural Environmental Conservation Programs” of Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs of Korean government, data bases for environmental effects of the conservation practices for arable soil, water, air quality and associated changes in crop productivity was established through intensive literature review and field experiments. Using the data base, field manual for the implementing the practices ofconserving agricultural environment were developed.
○ The another purpose of this study is to derive village-specific practices package through analysis of farmers' acceptability and expert priority of agricultural environment conservation practices, and to evaluate the economic feasibility of practices and village-specific practices package.

□ (Project 1)Evaluation of the Efficacy of Agricultural Environment Conservation Practices of Nutrient Management

- Establishment of data base for the effects of soil testing fertilization and usage of slow released fertilizer on environmental conservation and crop yield.
- Establishment of data base for the effects of managing livestock manure by recycling facility, guideline for spreading compost and liquid manure, optimum use of compost and liquid manure

○ DB establishment for (i) QE of the WSI effect in both the paddy and the upland, and in the cultivation under structure, (ii) QE of the effects of constructed wetlands and detention ponds on AWQ, (iii) field demonstration of the effects of natural vegetation and sediment trap in the edge of cropland on AWQ, (iv) QE of the cleaning effect of contaminated irrigation water resources and the planting effect of aquatic plants on AWQ.
○ Activity manual production for AEC with regarding to WSI and to both the cleaning of contaminated irrigation water resources and the planting of aquatic plants.
□ (Project 6)Priority and cost-benefit analysis of adopting Agricultural Environment Conservation Practices
○ Farmers’ acceptabilities and expert priority analysis by agricultural environment conservation activities.

Cost-benefit analysis and economic analysis for each empirical district cases and village specific practices package of agricultural environmentconservation practices.
□ Expected Contribution
○ Quantification of the effects of optimum nutrient management, nutrient input and pesticide use reduction, the control of soil erosion, water-saving, improving water quality, GHGs reduction etc. practices onenvironmental conservation.
○ Suggestion of comprehensive assessment of environmental conservation effect, crop yield change, and cost for recommended practices.
○ Enlargement of applicability and acceptability of conservation practices by farmers.
○ Use as supporting data to develop various incentive programs and policy measures to promote climate-smart farming and agricultural environment conservation program.
○ Provide a long and short term roadmap for agricultural environment conservation program and utilizing the smooth implementation of agricultural environment conservation programs of the Ministry ofAgriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
○ Provide the supporting data to create the public functions of agriculture and implementation of public-purpose direct payment.
