(A) study on the teachers' and parents' recognition on educational continuity between day-care center and elementary school원문보기

Nowadays, there are deep concerns on educational continuity between preschool and elementary school. Many number of studies and concrete plans on continuity education are promoted systematically by government, However, the story goes totally different when it reaches to the continuity education between day-care center and elementary school. The purpose of the present study is to recognize the problems on the educational continuity between day-care center and elementary school and find out the better solutions for the present situation. To find out the answers to it, this study has methods and materials as follows: First of all, the research suggested 162 persons including teachers of day-care center to the number of 29 and teachers of elementary school to the number of 37. And 47 numbers of parents who have their children registered at day-care center and 49 numbers of parents whose children have entered elementary school after completed day-care center course were also included. All of them reside in Seoul and they have been exposed to many practical situations. The questionary was carried by the present writer after examining and studying for it completely. The contents of the questionary had been proven its validity by experts and revised through preliminary test. Data were analysed by frequencies and percentages for each question. Crosstab method was used when plural answers were expected. Results of this study are as follows: Firstly, both group of teachers from day-care center and elementary school have heard about continuity education. However, they did not know what continuity education exactly is. Teachers of day-care center appeared to need the continuity education with elementary school desperately while teachers of elementary school appeared to have less interest and just show a positive attitude on this matter. Both of the teachers' group answered that continuity education is surely needed to develop the curriculum. In other words, 'Effective Curriculum' can be taken through the continuity education. Teachers of day-care center appeared to have difficulties in teaching children under age 5 because the amount of studying is increased and the way of studying is changed. In shorts, teachers of day-care center have their concerns on the matter of improvement of continuity education while teachers of elementary school do not show their interest that much. Secondly, both group of parents whose children now attended at day-care center and elementary school after finishing day-care center course have heard about continuity education between preschool and elementary school. Children have been delivering information on the day-care center and their parents showed the active attitude in gathering information on the children education through the mass media. They had great concerns on this matter too, however, their knowledge was not specific. The reason why continuity education between day-care center and elementary school is hard to be established is because of the difference of the extent of jurisdiction. They answered that the difference of curriculums and educational surroundings are also the major reasons which make it difficult to carry out the continuity education. At last, the both group of parents are expecting the continuity education between day-care center and elementary school can be established so that their children can lessen their burden and adapt themselves to their environment. Thirdly, mutual understanding between relevant institutions are needed to develop the continuity education. Before that, all of the teachers, parents, and children should know what the continuity education exactly is. In order to do that, two groups ought to exchange each other' curriculums and surroundings. In addition, each institution's curriculum should be taught to teachers at their training course. And P·T·A relations should be set up to exchange ideas and information. In conclusion, teachers from two groups should exchange their ideas and thoughts and understand each other fully in order to establish continuity education between day-care center and elementary school. Lastly, in that fertile surroundings, parents ought to show their positive and active attitude to various activities.
