This study aims to understand the characteristics of spatial distribution of snowfall by Siberian High in the Honam province in Korea. The major data used in this paper from 1974 to 2000 on daily fresh snow covers data by pressure patterns, surface weather chart, and cloud data were compiled from fifteen weather stations (Gunsan, Jeonju, Gwangju, Mokpo, Yeosu, Wando, Iri, Buan, Imsil, Jeongeup, Namwon, Suncheon, Jangheung, Haenam, and Goheung) located in the Honam province. These data were used to analyze the spatial distribution of snowfall according to Siberian High. The results of this study are as follows: The first, in the Honam province, Siberian High induces snowfall dominantly. Much snowfall is in the Northwestward of the Noryung mountain ranges to the West coast in the Honam province affected by Northwesterly wind directly from the Siberian High than the Southeastward and the South coast in the Honam province. The second, the northwestward of the Noryung Mountain ranges such as a heavy snowfall region has a various distribution of snowfall by reason of topography. Snowfall amount is decreased from the coast to the inland plain. However, in front of mountain, snowfall is increase by reason of a forced ascending air to the mountain. The third, the region where frequently appear a cumuliform cloud has large snowfall amount. A cumuliform cloud is frequent in the mountainous region in inland, the coast, and the inland plain in order. The forth, snowfall is intense in the coast and the mountainous region, and weak in the inland plain. In the mountainous region, a cumuliform cloud induced by a forced ascending air by reason of topography generates snowfall mostly. This fact is the main difference with snowfall in the mountainous region and the coast. In the result, in the Honam province, snowfall distribution and snowfall pattern are various, according to geographical climate factor such as topography and ocean. The heavy snowfall region in the Honam province is dividing into the coast region affected by ocean and the mountainous region affected by topography.
