The purpose of this study is to explore the actual condition and satisfaction of the meal on wheel service for the disabled in-home elderly and to propose the its improvement for the qualitative elevation. The method of this study was used the questionnaire composed of five parts : seven questions about the general characteristic of the elderly, three questions about the their health state, fifteen questions about the management and satisfaction of the meal on Wheel service. The number of the respondents were one hundred fifty-eight elderly with the provision of the meal service by the social welfare centers in Daegu(at Dalsu-gu) and Gyeongsan. The data were analyzed by using SPSS WIN including frequency, T-test, one-way ANOVA, factor analysis. The main analysis results of this study are as follow : First, the most of respondent were women, over seventy years of age. They lived on a perpetual lease apartment with a solitary life. Second, they were in a bad state of health with from one to four chronic disease. On the other side, their ADL state were higher than average. Third, in the actual condition and satisfaction of the meal service, it showed that the chance of the service had connection with social workers and the period of service are over six month. The frequency of the service were sixth a week and the most delivery man are volunteers. The reason to skip meal were no desire to eat, The disabled elderly did not know the context of national budget. Fourth, satisfaction scale of the meal on wheel service were average 3,8400. Fifth, the satisfaction of the meal service were affected by the residential form, living expense, delivery man, a conversational partner in this study. In conclusion, the author suggests following proposals for the purpose of this study established in the introduction. First, efforts should be made for the variable ways with the needs of the disabled elderly. In doing that, for example, the meal on wheel service should be provided for the disabled elderly who were in a bad state of health twice a day. And it should be made that they have both the meal on wheel service and the supplementary emotional service, because they felt much lonely. Next, the gradation of the service should be made with the needs of the disabled elderly. For example, the nourishing food should be provided for the sick elderly. It is necessary to secure the regular volunteers and to educate them. Finally, the regular evaluation will be necessary for the better service.
