(A) study on Interaction through Virtual Action of Digital Art : Focusing on the communication of the spectator원문보기

For the last twenty centuries, museums have maintained a unilateral function just by displaying art. Spectators may avoid museums because they do not get any particular impression of art displayed in the museum aside from art displayed elsewhere. The main objective of this study is to find reasons for having no visual communication between museum and its spectator, and also to present any alternative solution to the problem to the view point of the new generation in twenty first century. The new generations' view point is important because they are the core for the future digital culture for which they have been growning up in the well-computerized world. As we all know, popular digital culture in the twenty first century have developed interactive entertainment. Digital culture environment provides not only spectacular images, but the opportunity to act virtually with possible interactive visual communication. The computerized environment evokes imaginary, experiences and changes the user's thoughts through spectacular scenes. In this study we will take a closer look at the spectacular aspects of movies and games and analyze its relation with the spectator based on the interactivity through virtual reality. The spectator's visual communication in movies and games are much more apparent than those in museums. As digital contents from industrial society attract more spectators, museum's functions and its significances are diluted. Under this environment, we suggest that the interaction that the spectator has with digital art is the result of less visual communication between museums and spectators. Digital art can provide unlimited possibility of the exclamation expression using high technology and has the probability for spectators to find new impressions through interactivity of virtual reality from the virtual system. Things have been changed, such as the change of display methods, from painting displays to installations and extensions of digital development to virtual form. Spectators now enjoy art as a real experience, being a part of art work himself/herself and even finishing up the art work. They are users, not just visitors who operate and complete the art work in th! e digital art world. Digital art provide the opportunity of interaction through virtual action beyond formal installation displays which only provide visual impression. Spectators can have various experiences using their senses, such as seeing, hearing, and touching. In addition, this experience gives more opportunities for spectators to get their own particular opinion on different art. This kind of experience from art make spectators more active and plays an important role in which spectators can do more than just look at art in the museum. In brief, preparation of space for the real experience of art is necessary to possibly make communication between museum and spectator through digital art.
