This study surveyed how the special teachers who are in a special school are recognizing the aspects of expertise and human nature for the desirably special-teacher image, because the role and the attitude of a teacher have a more important meaning to the handicapped children with high dependency on a teacher, and the conclusions are as follows. First, as a result of analyzing which elements the special teachers are recognizing as the expertise of a special teacher, the priority was shown to be attached importance to the ability of guiding diversely leisure and entertainment activities, and the next was being recognized as the expertise of a special teacher as for the ability of utilizing the Computer Assisted Instruction and the teaching media, and the ability of coping with children's variables depending on the weather temperature, and then the next was being recognized as the expertise of a special teacher as for the reflection and the evaluation aiming to enhance all the environmental conditions in light of education. Accordingly, when directing special children, the special teachers were analyzed to require an effort aiming at the diversely leisure and entertainment activities. Also, it was shown that special teachers value very highly the ability of utilizing a computer, aiming to use a computer as teaching media. When a special teacher guides special children, it could be seen that a special teacher is recognizing even the ability of coping with depending on weather and temperature as the important expertise of a special teacher. As for the expertise of a desirably special-teacher image, the ranking that is not recognized by a special teacher, includes the behavioral guidance such as dressing and undressing, going to the toilet, and a proclivity to steal, and the next was shown to be in order of the guidance of basically personal-danger independence and the development of a properly individualization program. The factor, which has influence on the expertise of a special teacher, was gender, and was not affected by age, totally educational career, special-education career, qualification, and a grade gap. Given seeing the above, it was the unexpected results of being not recognized the presently education-performance level of children, the reaching time and the evaluation for the goal of a long-and-short term, the correction of curriculum and the special education to be offered to children, the related service, and the development of individualization program, which requires a teacher's systematic effort as for the contents related to the support to be provided to children, as the expertise of a special teacher, and of being not recognized a teacher's correction and behavioral guidance, which can plan and carry out a properly teaching strategy for the specifically problematic action, by understanding a basic principle and the diversely teaching methods aiming to be aware of variously problematic actions of the handicapped children, to understand the characteristics and the functions, and to deal with these matters. Second, as can be seen in the expertise of a desirably special-teacher image, of which special teachers are thinking, a special teacher requires the professional support, which builds the support network of parents, common people, and community, aiming to offer various information and to increase the understanding of special education, in addition to the learning guidance and the living guidance, aiming at the growth and development of the handicapped children. Also, as can be seen in the desirably human nature, it also requires the teacher's education, which focuses on, above, all, the warm heart of loving a human nature, the loving mind, and the understanding of the handicapped children, and further requires the attendant mission.
