The present study purposed to develop a group art therapy program designed to restore self-esteem in employees with chronic mental disability and enhance their ability to express their intentions or feelings properly so that they become confident in social adjustment, and to test the effects of the program. Research tools used in this study are Rosenberg’s Self-esteem Scale, Schiein Guerney’s Relationship Change Scale (RCS), Lee Su-jin’s Social Skill Scale (14 questions), and the K-H.T.P (Kinetic - House Tree Person) test. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the group art therapy program brought positive changes to the interpersonal relations of employees with mental disability. Second, the group art therapy program brought positive changes to the social skills of employees with mental disability. Third, the group art therapy program, which induces the subjects to express what they experience in their social life, guided the subjects to psychological stability through the exchange of emotion and, accordingly, was found to have a positive effect for those with chronic mental disability to maintain their employment.
