The paradigm of international logistics is changing by the day. China, a country now stepping up to the center of international logistics through the role of “World’s Factory” and “World Market”, as well as Northeast Asia are becoming powerhouse leading today's new paradigm. Multi-modal transportation generalized around China and Northeast Asia has become an important strategic tool for logistics optimization, which develops business logistics to be more effective and efficient. In this process, companies structurized their distribution flow to guarantee on-time delivery with reasonable cost. Among the various forms of multi-modal transportation, Sea & Air is the most typical but the most reliable model to realize logistics optimization. Sea & Air ex China via Incheon shall be accountable for not only the environmental factors caused by China’s insufficient logistics-related infrastructure and short supply but also the strategic optional choice, which enables logistics optimization by cutting down lead time & cost and providing shock-absorbing space supply for the high-demand season. China-oriented Sea & Air freight takes more than 10% of Korea’s total airfreight market and it shows more or less 25% of growth in average from 2002 to 2006 while its importance in domestic airfreight market is growing. However, as Chinese government recently accelerates extensive investment on infrastructure and continues opening up domestic airfreight market stating logistics to be one of the central industries of the country, the environmental factors will be taken care considerably. Thus, there is no guarantee that the current growth will continue. But this research finds that it will be possible to keep attracting ex China Sea & Air shipments into Korea by developing constantly differentiated service and new modification models such as Sea & Air T1 and Sea & Air DDS, even after China overcomes the environmental weakness building up sufficient infrastructure and enlarging flight supply service areas. The two modification models, Sea & Air T1 and Sea & Air DDS are transportation models designed to overcome the typical trade-off between cost & service quality. In other words, they are resolution that improve the general quality level of logistics service including smooth information flow, reduction of logistics cost, lead time minimization, etc and at the same time minimize cost by using global network and system. In result, this research aims for suggesting new forms of modification models developed on existing Sea & Air model interconnecting between China and Korea, which will be surely applicable to attract more Sea & Air ex China via Korea shipments and flourish them furthermore in this newly changing international logistics paradigm centering around China
