한국 전통춤 교수법의 인문적 접근 탐색 : 기존 교수법 분석과 하나로 수업의 적용 (A)Critical Examination of Korean Traditional Dance Teaching Methods and the Humanities-Oriented Approach : Analysis of Existing Methods and Application of Hanaro Teaching원문보기

The purpose of handing down the traditional Korean dance containing the emotional expression of life correct is not simply to master and follow its technical aspect in a form of apprentice education but master the spiritual aspect contained in dance(spirit, tradition and vision) and hand it down to the next generation through the technical aspect(dance movement). Therefore, this study was intended to make an in-depth examination of the teaching method of existing traditional Korean dance and explore the possibility of applying the teaching model, one of the practical method of humanities-oriented approach as one alternative. For this purpose, this study selected, as the study participant, the initiates of traditional dance(monk dance, Salpuri and Taepyongmu) designated as the important intangible cultural property, five educators with more than 10 years of teaching career and ten students who had the experience of receiving instruction in traditional dance for more than 10 years and were usually interested in traditional dance. And for the case study of Hanaro teaching, the students majoring in traditional Korean dance attending the department of dance in 4-year college were selected as the research participant. Hanaro teaching was provided in a form of instruction in Salpuri dance in which the researchers of this study took a personal lecture over the period of one year and six months between the 2nd semester of 2006 and the 2nd semester of 2007. The number of the persons participating in the special lecture accounted for 15 persons who were between the 2nd academic year and the 4th academic year. The method of data collection is by in-depth interviewing, school observation, school log and expert meeting. Case study and inductive category analysis were conducted as the method of data analysis. As a result, the following conclusion was drawn: First, the method of teaching existing traditional Korean dance includes the direct delivery method and the indirect delivery method. The direct delivery method is composed of direct explanation and allegorical explanation. The indirect delivery method is composed of experience transference and inner transference. Direct explanation in the direct delivery method comprises the explanation of dance movement, the explanation of theoretical background and motion of dance, personal demonstration, rhythm teaching and inner teaching. Allegorical explanation was to enable the students to have an imagination using an allegorical language by allowing them to express the image drawn in the mind. Experience transference in the indirect delivery method was to enable the students to have personal experiences through the visit to the museum, book, public performance and the like. The students came to have a personal experience of traditional dance through listening to the educator's story about experience of his life, reading the recommended book or watching the performance. And they came to have the vision that enables them to have an expansive interpretation of dance as their vision changed from the narrow one to the broad one through direct experiences. Inner transference was to deliver dance by means of the mastery of subtle language, gesture, mood of the external appearance, wording, eye movement and the like that the dance educator demonstrates. Second, the problem of existing traditional dance was shown to include the delivery of skill-centered contents, the lowered promotion of creative thinking, stereotypical teaching method, and reduced interest in dance. First of all, the delivery of skill-centered contents attached importance to the skill aspect of dance and the form of its motion through the experience-based knowledge of the dance educator and only to the part of learning its sequence and its simple-looking aspect alone. The lowered promotion of creative thinking resulted from failure to make dance understood in a different method as a result of greater importance attached to the skills and external form of dance. The stereotypical teaching method caused the students to lose an interest in dance by making dance “uninteresting” and “monotonous”. Reduced interest in dance resulted from failure to motivate the students to take an active part and feel interested by delivering only the form of traditional dance. Third, the humanities-oriented approach was developed through the application of Hanaro teaching. The case of this teaching is one of humanities-oriented physical education practically used as the physical education model currently carried into practice in elementary, middle and high schools and colleges. It is the case that the teaching of Salpuri dance was carried into practice according to the school model. The result of conducting Hanaro teaching revealed that the students made a shift in thinking of teaching. They thought of the teaching as a ‘new teaching method’. They came to abandon their stereotype about dance teaching after personally experiencing the Hanaro teaching method, felt newness and interest and came to have a desire for teaching. The effectiveness of Hanaro teaching was shown to include an understanding of diverse dimensions of dance, true self-discovery, an understanding of the total essence of dance, and the restoration of delight in dance. The result of this study showed that Hanaro teaching would be the teaching model appropriate to the teaching of valuable dance making positive changes and qualitative changes in several aspects by having diverse effects on the teacher and students. It is believed that the Hanaro teaching model presented as an alternative could not resolve all aspects of dance but become a passway that can have a fundamental understanding of traditional dance and hand down the spirit and inner world as well as the skill and motion of dance. This conclusion suggests that Hanaro teaching could become one alternative to the teaching method of traditional Korean dance in terms of role and educat
