Patients with stroke have a problem of postural control, and their standing and walking are disturbed by posture instability, abnormal physical balance, and defect in weight shifting. The core stability strength exercise are important in balance control and walking for posture stability. This study was aimed to investigate the effects of core stability strength exercise on balance control and walking ability of stroke patients. 12 stroke patients participated in this study. all subjects were divided into two groups(core stability group and control group). there were 6 subjects in each groups. They were participated in core stability strength exercise for 3 weeks. And The Timed Up and Go Test(TUG) and Messen Trairuieren Dokumentieren(MTD) Systems for balance and walking were measured and compared before and after the treatment. The results of this study were as following; First, the core stability strength exercise improve balance control of patients with stroke by increasing weight shifting to the affected side. Second, the core stability strength exercise improved walking ability of patients with stroke by reducing TUG score. Third, there was the significant co-relationship between the ability of balance control and the ability of walking. As these results, the core strength exercise was effective on both balance control and walking. Therefore, further research is needed to investigate about the core stability strength exercise related to improving the balance and walking of patients with stroke.
